Janurary 22 1993
I was a lot younger then only 5 years old starting kindergarten. My father was a janitor at a middle school and my mother was a RN. It was my birthday and I was expecting the biggest birthday ever but it turned out to be one of the worst birthdays I will ever have. I was turning 6 years finally I can be considered to be called the big kid mentally because physically I was already the tallest kid in my class. I was sitting in my room wearing a birthday hat watching the glory days of The Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. My mother is at my door smiling at me but I can tell it was a fake smile so I played it off acting like I didn’t notice. I go back watching my television and I can hear whispering in the hallway but as a child I don’t fear the worst I mean it’s my birthday so I was thinking that they were planning a surprise party but instead they were planning something that would ruin the rest of my childhood. My father comes into my room and sits next to me and gives me a hug and looks at me with his big brown eyes I can remember this moment as if it just happened even now I can’t remember why they did what they did. My father is still sitting me watching me watching television. He turns me around and asks me “You know I love you son?” I nod my head in approval and with a smile I gave my dad a hug and he just stares at me with his big brown eyes.
He walks out of the room and my mother looks as if she is going to burst out into tears. She comes into my room next. She sits next to me and asks me if I want to go for a ride. I said yes so I go and get my shoes on and we all pile in the 1993 Camaro. We drive around for about four hours I don’t know where we were going. All of sudden we pull up in front of a police station they ask me to get out of the car for a sec my mom meets me in front of the car and gives me a big hug. She goes back in the car and my mother and father drive off with the tires squealing from the pavement. I stand there still wearing my birthday hat with a look of confusion. What could I do now? I stand in front of the police station tears are streaming down my face. A woman a walk pass me and turns around and she notice that I am crying. She looks to have been in her mid twenties short curly brown hair and deep blue eyes she was kind of chubby but you can tell that she was one of those people that you would want to meet. She was very kind and courteous she gave me a hug and told me everything will be ok. She takes my hand and leads me inside the police station. She tells me to sit down and she begins talking to the police officer who is taking down notes. She tells them that she found me in front of the station and the police officer walks over to me and begins asking me questions. “Hey there little buddy my name is Officer Charles you mind telling me your name?” I looked up at him and inventively said “My parents told me not to talk to strangers”. The police officer chuckles a little bit “ Well son I am a police officer we are supposed to help people you can talk to me I am sure your parents won’t be made so can you please tell me your name?”
I look at him again and cuff my hands together “My name is Nathan sir Nathan Andrews”. The officer smile pats me on the head and goes back to his desks and makes a phone call. The lady that I met before sits next and tell me everything is going to be ok and says that these police officers will take care of me. She leaves the police station and once again for the second time today I was abandoned I was deceived my heart was broken and I felt that no one in the world loved me. The police officer comes back over to me and asks me another question “Hey Nathan I just wanted to know if you knew your phone number or address?” I shook my head no” Well do you know which part of New York City you are from. I start tearing up again “I from Brooklyn.” The police officer takes out his notepad and pen and jots down information. “Ok Nathan some people are going to pick you up here very soon and take you to a new home we just need your phone number so we can tell your parents where you are going to be staying at do you know your phone number?” I shake my head no” We didn’t own a telephone sir.” He just gently smiles and he looks like he is losing his patience. A few hours pass it is now quarter to 9. I am asleep and a lady wakes me up. She sits next to me with a pen and notepad just like the police officer she starts asking me questions. “Hello Nathan my name is Mrs. Trudy do you mind telling me how you got here today?”. Still with a tired lazy look in my eyes I wipe them and yawn. “Well today is my birthday and my parents took me into the car we driving all over New York then they tell me to get out of the car in front of this place my mom gave me a hug and she went back to the car and they left. They just left.” She just sits there writing notes down
She looks at me with a confident glare. “Well Nathan we found you a new home these are very nice people” Obviously she had no clue how those people really were because for the next ten years were the worst of my young life. If I knew what was to come I would have smacked the taste out of that bitches mouth and made her put me in a different home because once they place you in a home they really don’t want nothing to do you but show up for your court dates. She loads me up in the car and blasts the radio to the worst grunge radio station you can possibly imagine, it was the 90’s what are you going to do? I arrive at my new home it was a two story house pretty nice suburban neighborhood but what was inside was the worst two people I have ever met in my life. Me and Mrs. Trudy walk up to the door and answer the doorbell. An older Puerto Rican lady answers the door and her husband right beside her and after I enter through that door there is no way back. Mrs. Trudy leads me into their home and she goes back to her door and my awakening begins

It was a few days after my abandoning I was trying to get used to my new way of living. I have never met these people in my life I was scared and I felt alone. I mean if you were in my situation wouldn’t you be? I was sitting in my new room reading a book when my new foster mother came into his room. She was a young Hispanic woman in her early thirties. She was very pretty she stood around five feet eight inches tall she had long brown curly hair going down her back. Her eyes are a light green. She came over to me and gave me a hug her smell of perfume engulfed my room. “Listen Nathan I know you have been through a tough time but I am sure you will like it here you just have to follow the rules ok?” I nod my head in agreement and she leaves the room. I go to the edge of my bed and fold my hands and look up to the ceiling. Of course only at the age of seven I know who god was but I never really prayed to him and I really didn’t know how but I thought I would give it a go any way.
“God I know you know who I am so really don’t need to introduce myself but I am also sure you know what’s going on right now. I miss my parents very much. All I want to know is why they left me. I got good grades I always did what they told me to do. I just want to know why I left.” As soon as he finished his prayer is foster father comes into his room checking up on him. He is also Hispanic rather tall in good shape with a five o clock shadow. “Hey
Nathan how you holding up buddy?” Nathan stays silent for a while and his foster father walks over to him and kneels down and puts his hand on my shoulder. “Look Nathan I know you probably see me as the bad guy were here to help you not hurt you if you want I have to go to do a wrestling match later you come with me if you would like to.” I stare up at him with his big brown eyes and nods. “That’s a good boy now go get dressed we are leaving in about an hour.” I nod his head and he goes to his dresser drawer and pulls out his Stone Cold Steve Austin T-shirt and cameo shorts. He goes down stairs and meets his foster father with his duffle bag around his arm. “You look good kid now listen when we go to the arena just stay by me and I will let you meet the wrestlers your going to have a great time trust me.” We get into his 1997 Yellow Chevy Camaro. The car ride to the arena was silent for a while. Not a word said the radio was off and I was just staring at my feet. “Nathan you’re going to be living with us for a long time. I just thought I would let you know you can talk to me about anything if you can’t talk to anyone else you can talk to me. I know you’re not ready to talk about what happened to you a few days ago and that’s fine but if you ever have the urge or the need to talk to anyone talk to me because believe I know what you’re going through Nathan. I grew up in the foster care system going from home to home. I don’t want that to happen to you. I don’t want you to have a bad life to believe it or not.” I just look at him paying attention to every word he has said. I start to burst into to tears because that’s exactly what I needed to hear. He looks down at me and smiles. I may not have gotten an answer to why my parents left me but it looks like god flipped the switch and does something completely different he put someone in my life that understands.
We reach the arena and I was absolutely astounded about the mass of people attending the event. It was an Indy event but they pulled out a great show like it was on television. I got to meet the other performers and so my foster father performs in front of the few thousand people that were attending. He brought the house down and so did his opponent. He got the crowd involved he did everything right his feet work his promo work everything about that night was special to me. I may have lost my parents a few days earlier but it seems like that I gained a new friend and he was the key to my success god puts certain people in our lives that could either make us or break us but this time was different I got the better part of the deal and I’m great full for that. After the show we were sitting in his locker room getting ready to go home but when we opened the door a sea of people were there just to get a glimpse of there hero. The fans in the building hallway “El Toro” Over and over again after that night I automatically knew what I wanted to do in life I wanted to wrestle. I never wanted to do anything else. When we got back into the car I had the biggest smile on my face I had the time of my life and it was one of the greatest days of my life. He looked at me from the drivers seat and he a look of so much pride in his face. “You had a good time tonight Nathan?” I look up to him in admiration I couldn’t believe the things he did in the ring tonight “Yes had a lot of fun I want to be just like you.” He chuckles for a moment. “No Nathan you don’t want to be like me when you grow up. You want to be better than me. You want to be better than everyone else. You are your own person Nathan don’t be like the rest of the crowd be unique be you.”
The alarm goes off on the digital clock. I jump up instantly I check on Jessica to see if she is still asleep but it looks like she already woke up a while ago. I go down stares and welcomes me is an aurora of the smell of pancakes sausage. She greets me with a kiss on the cheek. My wife was always the morning person I never understood why or how she got so cheerful in the morning. She is wearing your typically I just got out of bed clothes sweat pants a tight wife beater and she has her hair in a bun. I walk over to the table and take a sit and stretch. My wife walks over with a plate and sits next to me. “So Nathan you debut at MPW soon?” I take a deep breath and wipe my eyes and mutter yeah. “My wife smiles and kisses me on the lips and tells me she loves me. “Sometimes you know how you feel unsure about something but you go ahead and do it anyway?” She looks confused “Yeah Nathan I get that way sometimes why are you unsure about MPW? Nathan gets up and looks out the kitchen window. “I have my doubts this is my first match there and I don’t want to fuck up. It’s been a long time since I wrestled honey you know this. I just don’t want to make a bad impression to the fans my second go around.” Ssica looks at me and hold my hand. “You will do fine youw ill win” Those were the only words I needed to hear.
