[[The scene opens with footage of Shaun Cross' classic back and forth match in BWR (Boston Wrestling Revolution) against his rival, Jason Plague. The montage is set to Damageplan's "Reborn", a song he'd been using as his entrance theme since he started working there. Bloodied and beaten, he stands in the center of the ring, holding the BWR Championship belt proudly above his head as the screen fades to black and the song comes to an end. The scene fades back in with a flashback, showing Cross with his ribs in bandages (as he'd suffered an injury involving a scaffold and a table). He walks into the office of the Chaos Wrestling International general manager, Joe Leanzo.]]
Shaun Cross: (sighs)...Mr. Leanzo, we need to talk.
Joe Leanzo: Talk? What about?
Shaun Cross: (winces in a bit of pain). Look, my contract ends tomorrow, and I can't work tonight...How are we going about this?
Joe Leanzo: Shaun. I personally contacted your former employer to get you into this company. I stuck my neck out for you based off of one match, and boy was I glad that I did, you're a hell of a performer...But...Right now, you're not a huge asset to the promotion, you can't even wrestle right now. I mean, you're championship material. BWR proved that, but even doctors said they weren't 100% sure how long your recovery would take. You're right, your contract ends tomorrow, under any other circumstances, you'd be making more money for a longer period of time, AND be getting a title shot within the first few weeks of the new agreement...You knew the risks of the scaffold bump and you took it, I don't mean to sound like a dick, but it's your own fault you're all beat up. I'm sorry Shaun, I don't think an agreement that will make us both happy can be struck.
SC: Joe...
JL: I'm sorry Shaun...I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
[[Shaun Cross nods reluctantly and stands up, leaving the office through the door which he hadn't closed when he arrived]]
[[The camera works in a clever way producing the illusion that Cross walked out through the open door onto the MPW stage. Free of the bandages and a microphone in hand, "Reborn" once again playing throughout the building, he makes his way down the ramp. He steps into the center of the ring, waiting for the smattering of applause given to him by the capacity crowd to die down. He brings the mic to his mouth]]
Sean Cross: Millennium Pro Wrestling...Getting here definitely hasn't been a fairy tale journey. Between broken ribs, blood spilled and that ultimately learning that the people with the money have all of the power in this business, hell I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into when I pulled into the arena parking lot earlier today.
[[The crowd shows a bit of a mixed reaction]]
Shaun Cross: But...It's MPW, when I got the phone call, of course I couldn't say no...I achieved "Hall of Fame" status in one of the lower promotions I wrestled in...I know that the food chain is long here in MPW...But I know I'm worthy of the top, and I can't fuckin' wait to show everyone in this business what I can do.
[[More of the audience rallies behind the newcomer, the cheers get louder as his music hits and he drops the mic in the center of the ring. He exits the ring and walks up the ramp to the stage, turning back around, looking out at the crowd, raising his arms up over his head, before turning and exiting.]]
