Jimmy Fatal once again finds himself inside a small backroom of a church, surrounded by people with plastic cups sipping coffee, talking with low voices or letting paranoid stares survey the room. In midst of this mixed up group, he stands looking at his peers, 30 years old and already a life time of bad experiences under his belt. Suddenly a big strong hand is placed on his shoulder, Jimmy turns around and looks at the behemoth of a man behind him, who just sends him a friendly smile.
Man: Hi Jimmy, how are you today?
He puts out his hand and Jimmy shakes it, a slight nearly recognizable smile sneaks onto his face
Jimmy Fatal: I'm good Bill, been a rough couple of months, but I feel like I'm on my way back
Bill: Good to hear my friend and you know if your in need your welcome to call me anytime
Jimmy Fatal: I know thank you
Bill turns around with a slight nod and walks over to a guy covering in the corner, Jimmy stands and looks after him, the big man who he in many ways idolizes and in other ways just can't stand. His strain of thought is interrupted by a squeaking voice that yells out his name, he turns to face the all to happy couple Steve and Marcy
Marcy: Ohh Jimmy how good to see you, you know we saw you last night, was so great to see you back in action, wasn't it great honey? you said so yourself
Steve: Yes it was a great performance Jimmy, you should come by and we could talk wrest...
He is interrupted by Bill ringing the bell signaling for all to find their places and the meeting to start. Jimmy sighs, saved by the bell literally. Everybody finds a seat in the circle and sits down, Jimmy ends sitting next to a new guy, who is shaking, and not looking to good at all. Jimmy bends over to him.
Jimmy Fatal: Hey I'm Jimmy, this your first meeting?
The guy stares at Jimmy like a deer caught in the headlights of a truck and nods
Jimmy Fatal: Don't worry everyone here has been where you are and we know the first 24 are the hardest, but also most important
He sits back seems like the guy has calmed down a bit and Bill opens the meeting with the same formalities and announcements. Finally he asks if there is anyone who's there for the first time, Jimmy nods at the guy next to him encouraging him to say something
Man: H hi I.... I'....m Daniel.... and I'm an....al....co....holic...
Everybody smiles at him as they reply
Group: Hi Daniel and welcome
The meeting continues, no anniversaries, so no medallions to give out, and then finally Bill ask if someone needs the help of the group
Jimmy Fatal: Hey my name is Jimmy and I'm an alcoholic
Group: Hi Jimmy
Jimmy Fatal: Well its been almost 2 years since my last drink and I feel like I'm starting to see the world clearer and that I am ready to go out and change the things, I can.
I've been a wrestler most of my life and finally I've awaken to see what is wrong with the business. Some of you may have seen me at MPW's Uncivil War last night, where I finally broke my silence about this.
He takes a second and clears his throat
I just couldn't take it anymore, I saw this Dynamo character build himself up upon facing a guy, who is paid to be squashed by him, disrespecting his opponent and the match by taking it lightly. I've paid my dues in this business most of my career, I jobbed and elevated opponents to stardom and then to her that poser talk the shit he did, it just felt like he was pissing on every single guy who ever worked their way from the bottom of this business.
I can't say that it also pissed me off that I've been sitting at home now since my tag partner got hurt and then this snot nosed brat is given a spot at the pre-show, a spot he didn't earn, but that's wrestling for ya all about the politics.
Anyway I had to see what I could do to change it, I asked my higher power, meditated on it and even to a glance in the book to find the answer, but it didn't come to me before I stood backstage and saw the brat win. The only way I can change things is to take action, I won't sit at home and wait for MPW to call me, no I'll go and knock at their door and demand that they release me or put me to work. And wouldn't you know it paid off.
So now I got a new perspective on it all, cause I'm done sitting at home feeling sorry for my self and fighting not to take that first drink. Instead I'll go out and try to change the things I can with the courage and wisdom that has been granted to me by my higher power... thank you
He sits back with a smile, its like a burden has been lifted of his shoulders and he can breathe more easily now
Bill: My name is Bill and I am an alcoholic
Group: Hi Bill
Bill: Seems like Jimmy has put some of A.A. fundamentals to work here like we ask for serenity, courage and wisdom in our prayers to lead us on the path on our sobriety, now has any one else something they want to share?
The meeting continues, but Jimmy has a hard time concentrating, thoughts about his match fills his head. Finally Bill asks them all to stand and join hands in prayer
Group:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can
and wisdom to know the difference
The meeting breaks up some stay, talking in smaller groups, but tonight Jimmy doesn't feel much like small talk.
Slowly he walks home still in deep thoughts about his match, Dynamo Crunch and what it all means to him, he wants to teach the guy a lesson, no matter what you don't take a match lightly, that's the way he was taught to view the business of professional wrestling.
Finally he walks up to his front door and starts unlocking it as suddenly someone calls out to him
Voice: Excuse me Jimmy? would you mind giving me a statement
Fatal turns and stares in disbelief at Jay Wyatt and a camera crew behind him
Jimmy Fatal:What the fuck Wyatt can't a guy have any privacy!
Jay Wyatt: Sorry, I was just wondering if you had anything to say about you appearance at Uncivil War and your match on TNT?
Jimmy sighs
Jimmy Fatal: I sure as hell do, but didn't think I'd be doing it on my doorstep, but fuck it... Dynamo your attitude and mannerism stinks. You talk about the greats in the business about innovative moves and shit, but in the end your nothing but a product of the Internet. Back when I broke into the business you started at the bottom and worked your way to the top, you were grateful to the people who jobbed for you to get ahead, but you don't no anything about that kind of respect.
Instead you call press conference and whine about how I called you out after the match, how I exposed the truth about you and your lame ass attitude towards this business. You can bring out all you fancy power moves and all your other shit, they won't mean anything, cause this won't be regular wrestling match it will be a fight and it will be my statement. Jimmy Fatal is back and I'm not here to play nice or make friends, I'm here to expose posers like you who have grown addicted to the glamor of wrestling.
I have battled my own demons and conquered my disease, now its time fore me to rid MPW of the same disease, the addiction that runs rapid amongst young wrestlers, the craving for the attention your mommy never gave you, but wrestling is more than just spotlight and glamor, which you'll learn very soon
And I promise you this kid your addiction will lead you to that Fatal Mistake that will cost you this match
Now fuck off I got better things to do
He walks in and slams the door leaving Wyatt standing outside looking a bit puzzled
Later that night Jimmy is still plagued by the thoughts of the match, he knows all to well how dangerous it can be to step into the ring with people wanting to spotlight, but he also knows that he needs to prove his point
MPW is full of this kind of people, young hot headed posers walking around in expensive suits and driving fancy cars.
And that is what he is going to change one match at the time
He turns off the light and goes to bed determent and eager to start his new found mission as he drifts into a world of dreams
Man: Hi Jimmy, how are you today?
