Hey y'all, just got my RP for tomorrow night finished. Mind givin' me some feedback?
[Saturday January 26th, the room stopped spinning. Sitting in a kitchen chair smack dab in the middle of Kale Jenson’s floor, we see Shaun Cross. His eyes are heavy and still red, but he’s smiling and occasionally chuckling at what Warren and Kale were rambling about (even though he wasn’t positive on what that was.) Yep, it was Kale’s going away party. Three in the morning…Some people had crashed in the back bedroom; Jason was napping on the couch, and the entire house was a wreck. Kale originally came from a broken home in a smaller nearby town of Brookton, one thing he and Shaun truly found a connection in. They’d often swapped the bitter true stories of being witness to years of drug, alcohol, and domestic abuse. The going away party was to celebrate Kales “adventure” to Massachusetts. When he was just a young boy, his father and more split apart and his father moved to a small(ish) town outside of Boston called Bridgewater. Kale decided it was finally time to spread his wings and get away from the town of Danforth and move out to Mass to be closer to family…The family he actually missed...A few minutes later, the tone in the room got a bit more serious as Shaun suddenly began to speak.]
Shaun: Well shit, man, I wish you the best of luck with whatever you’re scheming in Mass. I guess I’m sorry about tweaking out after your last event too. I was booked in a match with something at stake (finally) and I couldn’t afford to lose.
[Almost shocked at the instantaneous clarity shown by Shaun, Kale and even Warren nodded and apologized as well. Kale thanked Shaun for the bidding of good fortune.]
Kale: It’s not a problem man, you had every right to be pissed off; and thank you, I’m sure I’ll get into something…
[The three of them chuckle.]
So…What’s next for you, man? Where’s MPDub draggin’ ya to next?
SC: Warren hasn’t told you?! That push that I’ve been hoping for? I earned it last week! I’m not the number one contender for Jason Xavier’s Television Championship!
KJ: Holy shit dude, that’s great! You have your title match Thursday?!
SC: Not yet bud, I do have a tag team match against he and Rose though…Teamin’ up with Rye Payne for this one…
[KJ winces]
KJ: Rye Payne…That sounds really familiar…Is that the guy that I’ve heard be called a no-show…?
[Shaun shrugs]
SC: I guess so, I really don’t know as much about him as I should. I’m betting (and hoping) he shows up.
WB: Well what about this Jason X…He any good?
SC: Well dude, he’s good enough to hold a belt…
KJ: Not for much longer though right, man?!
[KJ laughs, nudging Shaun]
SC: Well one can only hope I guess. I have as good a shot as anyone. Hell, I was good enough to get this number one contender spot right? That’s worth something.
KJ: That’s right, bro. You’ve been on one helluva role lately, keep wrestling like you have been; break his spirits down a bit by winning this tag match and you’ll have your title match in the bag!
WB: Yeah Shaun, or you could go in there and just kick the absolute dog shit out of him in this tag match…Easy title match in the making right there, huh?
SC: He’s a great competitor so I’ve heard, I doubt that could really happen…Easier said than done I guess…
[There was a pause in conversation as the three noticed Jason start to stir in his place on the couch.]
So…As I was saying, Jason is a great wrestler…Tyler, I’m not worried about. I’ve beaten him twice; he’s not on my radar anymore. You say you’ve heard of Rye Payne as a no-show? Well show or no show I’m going to go out there and try my damndest.
KJ: Well that’s always the way to look at things, great attitude, go out there and kick some ass, partner or no partner…
SC: I mean…Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure Rye’ll be there, and I kinda can’t wait to wrestle with him, ya know? This is my first tag team match in MPW, I’m kinda wondering myself how I’d work with a partner, I’ve never done a lot of it in my career…
[The scene fades as the three continue to talk until the sun rose again. Kale was leaving that afternoon to catch his bus to Mass, giving Shaun a key saying they could stay as long as they wanted as long as they locked up when everyone left. A while later, a few people departed home. The general store in town was just a bit down the road; and it being a nice day, Shaun decided to just hoof it to buy a few things for the rest of the day before he, Jason and Warren carpooled home. The scene opened back up as Shaun’s feet touched the pavement of the road.]
Jason Xavier…First of all, I’ll be grateful for you congratulations…You’ve called me a nobody? Maybe in your eyes for now, Champ…But I guarantee, after our match for the TV title…Trust me, I’ll be a somebody…You’re shocked that I’m the next contender for your precious title? Why’s that, Champ? Is it really shock, or is it just a trace of panic? Dread of quote unquote “dropping the ball”? Well Jason…It’s not a ball you’ll be dropping, this isn’t basketball…The only thing you’re gonna end up “dropping” is that Television Championship. Will I be someone then, Jason? Hell I'd say I've done pretty good in MPW so far...I have a shot at your title...That's worth SOMETHING right?
[Shaun chuckles a bit]
I think so...It'll count a hell of a lot more come our match...When that music hits after our match and I get my hand raised...Will I still be nobody, Champ...? But of course, that's not the matter at hand. Thursday night it'll be "The Star" and the Chlamydia Kid against a Samurai and the "no-show"...Sounds like fun to me...Know what I can't wait for? I cannot fucking wait for Thursdays match to break down to just you and I standing in the middle of that ring...I can't wait for the "Xavier" and the "Samurai" chants to be battling one another out in that crowd, waiting, anticipating and clamoring to see OUR match...Waiting to see your ball get dropped like the fuckin' new year...And for me to raise that belt up high...
[Shaun continues to walk, reaching the parking lot of the small store as the camera fades out a final time...]
