[ Sydney and Roxi finally make their way to the abandoned shack. ]
Sydney - So...what the plan.
Roxi - I don't know.
Sydney - What do you mean, "I don't know"
Roxi - Because I don't know, Z. I have no ideas. Do you?
Sydney - Me? I don't think of the plans, that's your department.
Roxi - Then it looks like we're plan less.
Sydney - Well...that's great.
Roxi - Oh wait, here's the plan: try to stay alive.
Sydney - Even better.
[ Entering the shack, there are two people tied up, with bags over their heads, and identical looking clothes on. ]
Roxi - Look...
Sydney - Most hostages.
Roxi - I know, but look. You see any wires on them?
Sydney - No. Why?
Roxi - I may be making a plan.
Sydney - About time.
[ The screen flickers on. ]
Mistress Haven - Welcome to round 2. This is one of my favorite rounds. If you look on the table in front of you, there's a pistol with two bullets in it. On your right, the two tied up civilians. It's time to play. Both of the civilians, are soaked with gasoline. If you take the gun, and kill yourselves with it, I'll set them free. But, if you want to play hero, you can save one, by killing your partner. Either that, or they burn to death. You have 60 seconds. Make your choice.
[ The screen flicks off. ]
Roxi - Great.
Sydney - I...What do we do?
Roxi - I'm not going to shoot you.
Sydney - I'm not going to shoot you.
Roxi - We can't just let them die.
Sydney - No...we can't.
[ Sydney grabs the pistol off the table. ]
Roxi - What are you doing?
Sydney - I don't want to play anymore.
Roxi - Sydney! don't! We can get through this!
Sydney - IT'S A NO-WIN SITUATION! WE CAN ONLY HELP THEM ONE WAY!
Roxi - Sydney...
Sydney - I'm sorry...
[ Sydney aims and pulls the trigger, twice, shooting both hostages in the head.]
Roxi - Wha...
Sydney - ...
[ She throws the gun down and begins walking away as the screen flickers on again. ]
Mistress Haven - Very well done Ms. Knite, shooting innocent people to save your own life. You're quite the hero, aren't you?
Roxi - Damn you Haven.
Sydney - Kiss my ass.
Mistress Haven - I'm sorry, I can't hear you, but I bet your so proud. Anyway, it's time for the final round. You have 5 minutes to get to the thrift store. For the best round yet! Thrills, chills, and the biggest finale in history.
[ The screen shuts off. Sydney makes a b-line for the door. Roxi hurries after her.]
Roxi - Hey!
Sydney - What?
Roxi - Are...are you okay?
Sydney - I just shot two people in the head! No, I'm not okay! This is hopeless.
Roxi - It's not hopeless. I'm getting closer to figuring this out.
Sydney - Figuring what out? That we're going to die here?
Roxi - No. I think...I think Haven is in this town.
Sydney - How do you know?
Roxi - She can't hear us on the TV, meaning she's got the security feed for those cameras. Plus, she's been detonated that first round remotely, for the transmitter to be that small, she has to be close. I think I can find her.
Sydney - Any time you're ready, boss!
Roxi - Z...
Sydney - How many more lives and both of you going to make me take?
[ Sydney walks away, headed for the Thrift store. Roxi hurries after her... ]
[ At the Thrift store. ]
Roxi - There's nothing here.
Sydney - No hostages.
Roxi - No.
Sydney - So...what...
[ The screen flickers on. ]
Mistress Haven - Ready for the final round? I knew you were. This entire store is rigged with a lot of explosives. So, if you try to escape, the whole thing will blow, just like the Hardware store, only bigger. Now, there's a gun on the table. The rules are simple. You have 60 seconds to choose. One of you, isn't walking out of that store. If one of you isn't dead, the whole store goes up. Hahaha. Good luck.
[ The screen flickers off ]
Roxi - Dammit.
Sydney - So...what now?
Roxi - Grab the gun.
Sydney - I'm not going to shoot you.
Roxi - Don't worry. I think the injection is wearing off.
Sydney - So?
Roxi - I have my healing back. You shoot me somewhere convincing, and I'll pretend to die. Then, I'll track her down. I'll finish this.
Sydney - What if that doesn't work?
Roxi - It will.
Sydney - I can't.
Roxi - Yes, you can.
Sydney - No.
Roxi - Don't argue with me, Z. Just do it.
Sydney - I...I can't shoot you.
Roxi - I'll heal, it's okay.
Sydney - Are you sure?
Roxi - Positive. Now grab the gun.
Sydney - ....
[ She does, and looks down at it. Before aiming. ]
Roxi - Aim a little to the left, don't shoot me in the heart.
Sydney - Sorry.
[ Sydney pulls the trigger, shooting Roxi. She falls to the ground, coughing up blood. ]
Roxi - ...*Cough* Go...
Sydney - You lied to me!
Roxi - Go!
Sydney - Dammit!
[ Sydney stares at the screen, looking for answers. ]
Sydney - There! It's done! I'm coming for you Haven. I swear I am.
[ The screen flickers on. ]
Mistress Haven - Well, Zelda, you won the game. You did my dirty work for me. Now that Lady Bedlam is dead, I don't need your services anymore. So, it's with that that I depart. Leaving you with a final gift, the town, is rigged to blow in 5 minutes. Save yourself if you can. Good-bye.
[ The screen shuts off ]
Sydney - NO!
Roxi - *Cough* go...
Sydney - No! I'm not leaving you.
Roxi - You only have a small amount of time, I'll slow you down.
Sydney - We're going.
[Zelda lifts up Roxi, and they begin to make their escape. ]
[ Days later, Zelda and Roxi heal their wounds having escaped. Barely. ]
Sometimes, life gives you a no-win situation, and things have to be done, things have to change, things must be done in a way that you may not like or want, but that's the way it goes. I cried inside when I did what I did, but it was for the greater good. Sydney is my friend, and I didn't want to do that. But it was necessary in order to accomplish the goal.
And what I have to do to you, Kahlan will be necessary. But first, I must commend you.
Now that, THAT is more like it Kahlan.
That is what I was waiting for. I finally see what's in front of me, I see my goal and what I need to do, in order to take that title from you. And, to knock you down a peg will be...enjoyable to say the least. But again, I am thrilled you finally came through.
I knew you had it in you. It just took a little poking and prodding to get it out. Now I can see that you actually mean to back up what you say. That is what I was waiting for. You, finally ready. And I stress finally, because if you had this in you the whole time, you have no one to blame but yourself that your not world champion. Yes, believe it or not, I'm actually trying to help you. You need to step on necks in wrestling in order to get what you want sometimes. But you, you have gone around let yourself be beaten by lesser people, according to you. Why is is that Kahlan? If you are so great, and so talented, why are not the world champion? Oh, forgive me for even questioning it, because I already know the answer, the Sin City title, that belt, that's your top floor. You don't go any higher. You have proven it now to the world with your pitiful performance in the last three weeks.
How does it feel Kahlan? How does it feel to know that this is as far as you go? It must suck, but hey, being a good Sin City Champion is nothing to sneeze at I guess. Yes, I said good, because great is what I'm plan to do with that title. Just like I prove I'm the greatest TV champion in history, I will become the greatest Sin City champion in history. And that all starts by defeating you. And beating you at your best.
You asked if I knew what I was getting in to, and of course I do. I wanted the REAL Bliss. The REAL Kahlan to finally come out and prove her worth, not just talk about it. There's two types of people in the world Kahlan: Those who talk the talk, and those who walk the walk. The difference is those who walk the walk usually dont' talk, because they're too busy walking. And those that talk the talk, don't tend to do much walking. I never needed to sit here and tell you have great I am. I dont' have to talk about being the best. Because I tend to go out and prove it. Two losses in January was the end of an undefeated streak of 106 days here. Then, I started another one. Since January, I haven't lost. I think that qualifies me as pretty darn good, don't you think? There was no one, not one person on the roster, who could beat me. But I know, it's not impressive to you, because your the Sin City champion. But let's put this in perspective: Winning a battle royal isn't skill Kahlan, it's more luck than anything else. That's how you became the champion. You didn't win some big match against Rage, you won the title when he got injured.
And your title defense was against the guy you're sleeping with. Must have been tough.
This isn't me manipulating facts Bliss, this is me telling you the things you don't want to hear. The truth is painful thing sometimes, especially when you try to cover it with a lot of false bravado. I have nothing to hide, I simply ask for the respect that I have earned. But for you, that's too much. Because you think you're better than me.
"Ginger" Jokes do not make you better, Kahlan.
Retracting statements when you're proven wrong doesn't make you better either.
What it means, is you are really running out of material. I thought you really hammered it home this time, but those two thing sour the whole thing. I mean, the only thing missing from that was "What I meant to say was" before going into that long, garbled, ridiculous retraction that make you look foolish. You need to choose your words more carefully, or at the very least, know what you're talking about.
But that's you in a nut shell isn't it? The woman who tries very hard to justify having a title that she knows she didn't really earn. A woman trying to hang on to a title that she know she needs. As long as you have that belt, Kahlan, you know you can justify anything can't you? Well, there's a really big difference between me and you. For you, that title is your life. You don't want it taken from you, because you need it. Without it, your just a woman who is the middle of the road, and may not be in contention for it again.
For me, that title is a launching pad. Beating you for it means I have climbed yet another ladder, and I'm taking the reigns as the top woman in this company. And that's what really bugs you. Taking this belt away, just makes you Drakes toy. It takes away everything else from you. But for me, it means my time is coming. I can take that title and make it what it can be. There's a saying in wrestling, that sometimes, a champion makes a title, and sometimes a title makes a champion. You are the latter. That belt has brought you prominace. It's made you the person you are now. Meanwhile, I set the bar so high with my television title reign, that no one will come close to it. I can say with all honesty that I MADE that title. And I know I can make that Sin City title better too.
But let's understand something right here and now, this a street fight. You have the ability to really put your stamp on this Bliss. But, I have to really, really question something about you, after all that you've said:
Are you willing, Kahlan?
Are you willing to bleed? Are you willing break bones? Are you willing to get hurt and play through the pain? Are you willing to hurt yourself, as well as me? Are you willing to end my career to retain your championship? You can come out in your any promo and tell the people that you are, but you and I know differently don't we? The answer, of course, is No, you're not willing to do any of that. You don't have the heart, you don't have the desire, and above all else, you don't have the capability.
You have been nothing but a little girl, living a fantasy, Bliss. Nothing more. I know you've been trying to make those 15 minuets last as long as humanly possible. I think it's to the point now, where no one wants you to be in that spotlight anymore.
They're tired of you.
The Sin City Champion is someone who should carry the title with pride, be able to carry the load, and take on the responsibility. And none of those characteristics match you Bliss. They aren't in the same ballpark, same league, hell the same sport. Those characteristics are you shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as your name.
The champion carries the title. The title doesn't carry the champion. Bottom line. Point blank. Period.
But you've made it possible haven't you Bliss? You've sucked it up royally ever since you won that title. Resting on that title like a crutch. floating along on your laurels, depending on someone, something, ANYTHING to save you.
But in Miami, it's all or nothing. There is no saving you this time Bliss. No more floating along, no more resting. You are in for the fight of you life come Road to Glory. You're days of hiding behind your life and the title are over come Thursday.
Well, at least you'll still have Drake....I suppose that's something.
You want to know what's really sad Kahlan? that your reality is more warped than my adventures. It's almost sad to see someone so out of touch, trying so hard to make themselves right. You said you could go on about being right, but you didn't. Most likely because you are wrong. You do hate yourself, otherwise you wouldn't be fighting to keep this little "beast" inside you contained. If anyone around here is "crazy" it's you. Crazy for keeping that bottled up when you could have unleashed it at any time. But no, I'm crazy, and I'm a liar, I'm emotionless and I'm being too cocky, right? I know you tried to explain it, but it just didn't make any sense whatsoever.
See Kahlan, labels have never hurt me. I got stuck with the "crazy" one because you were misinformed. Nothing new, but still, you've put it out there. And..I'm okay with that. Good for you.
The biggest reason I'm okay with it, is because I'm not thinking about losing. It hasn't entered my mind since the match was announced. I'm going to win. What kind of wrestler would I be if I didn't think I was going to win Bliss? Come on, there is not one athlete in the history of sports, who has walked into their respective sporting event, be it a game, a match, a tournament, a series, what have you, and thought "I' don't think I can win this one." Because if you do, you don't deserve to play. Especially not a championship match. That is where you step up, it's where you give it your all. It's where you give everything... and then you give more.
I don't think about losing Bliss. I don't play the hypothetical game.
But I know you do.
For all your bravado, have you thought about losing? Have you thought about being Drake Sloppy sixteenths, without that title? Have you thought about what to say to him? What excuse you can come up with? Have you thought about life as the ex-champion? All the laughing, all the jokes? Have you thought about you, Bliss, being labeled a "flash in the pan"? I mean, wouldn't it just be sad if the great and mighty Sin Champion "Goddess", lost to "Crazy" Roxi Johnson?
Wouldn't that make you a flash in the pan?
Actually, no, it wouldn't. There's another word for that. I know, you're tired of me playing word games, but actually...I think you've heard it before.
"Failure."
An epic one to be sure.
You want to keep that belt? Get serious. Put your foot down, buckle down and start taking people down you should.
But I am NOT the woman you start with.
Thursday Kahlan, I will put you down, because you need it. You, once again, will be given a reality check. It's one that's long overdue, but maybe this time you'll get it. Maybe this time it'll knock some sense into you. Maybe afterward, you'll stop looking around and trying to find a scapegoat for all your problems. Maybe you'll look at the woman in the mirror, and realize what you have become. What we all see you as: A child using childish insults and acting like a spoiled brat. A woman who can't have it her way all the time.
Boo-Hoo.
You know, because the people have made wrestling, the very job she does for a living, bad. It's not fun anymore because the people who pay, want to see entertainment. And obviously she doesn't want to do that. She just wants to wrestle. My theory has always been, if you don't like what you do, then find something else to do. So, if that's the case Kahlan, I'll just take the Sin City title from you, and you can go do something else. Because this isn't fun for you anymore.
Hang on while I wipe away the tears.
It's sad that I'm getting sour grapes and excuses when we haven't even had the match yet. At least wait until the match is over. Wait until you unleash the beast inside, and it comes out, in all it's glory and it reigns down it's wrath, and you slowly realize that it's not enough. When you understand that even with all that pent up rage, and anger, and hostility, that it's not going to matter. In this street fight, I am willing to do what I need to, to win the Sin City title, and get it around the waist of a person who did something for it. On this night Kahlan, I will prove to be stronger than you, tougher than you, and most of all, better than you. It's really quite simple. There's not much you can really do about it, beside try your best. And if that was your best, then you had better hope that that "beast" inside can make up for what you lack.
Time is always ticking away, and we're so close to the proverbial eleventh hour. The time where you and I go to that ring, in Miami, and we fight for your Sin City title. Where all this talking that we've done, goes out the window. But, by your own admission, talking is something you do very well. I just hope it's not what you do BEST. You say talk is cheap, but you surely did a lot of it, despite trying to not look worried, or afraid, or impressed, I get it, you need to look unrattled. But when the bell rings, all of that goes away. You and me, the two top women in this company, will face off, and you've already blinked a few times, let alone first. I'm coming at you with everything I have, and if it's not enough, then you've proven your worth. You can earn a lot more of my respect then you already have. But if I beat you, does that mean you'll respect me? No, not you, you can't give me the respect I've earned, because it means you'll acknowledge me as being better than you.
I just want to thank you for coming out of your shell, and really trying this week, you've talking a great game, now, you need to back it up. I don't know if you want to try to back up that much talking, but you're welcome to try.
No, you know what? You know what Kahlan, I'm done. I'm through with the words. You can cuss and act like a bad ass all you like, but in this match, you're going to feel everything I said you would. The pain, the fear, the desperation, all of it, will come out in this match. And then, something else will overtake you, when it's all over. And I am the Sin City champion, having beaten you at your best. You want to know what that is? It's one that you sturggle with all the time. It's something that comes out of your mouth, but you don't want to really tell yourself. It will plain as the shock and anger and every other emotion going through your mind at that moment.
It's called realization.
You should have been a chef.
Because while you may have the physical belt itself, you are not a champion.
See you Thursday.
Sydney - So...what the plan.
