Wow what a match at Road to Glory. It was amazing being in Dallas and experiencing a X-Core match in my first Road to Glory. What can I say. I lost. Well that’s not completely true but if you don’t win you lost. Brandon, TJ you both showed up, I have to admit you both can take a beating. I could sit here and complain about one small misstep that cost me the title but frankly that would be a waste. Kuk you won but you didn’t Beat Me, and you will remember me from now on.
That brings us to this week. I got the email last night as to who I would be facing and let me tell you. I felt underwhelmed. Here I come off an incredible match with Kuk Killswitch and I am back to Ian Andrews. The same guy I faced in my first week here. I remember it fondly. How did that end up?
<Clip of the final moments of Ian and Gabe’s match from a few weeks ago plays.
[Andrews is stalking the rising Griffin with a confident smirk, as Gabriel is up and hopping around trying to spare his leg, Andrews charges going for the Andrews Effect. Somehow Griffin manages to elbow out, sending Ian staggering back wards holding his midsection. Gabriel moves in and slaps on the front headlock, hooking the leg and planting Andrews on the mat with the Initiation.]
Bob Herman: Does this mean Andrews has joined the frat?
Thomas Simon: I don't think so Bobo
[1...2...3 DING DING DING Griffin slowly gets to his feet still favoring his right leg as his arm is raised by the referee]
Honey Winters: And here is your winner GGGGGAAAAABBBBRRRRIIIIEEEEEELLLLL GGGGGRRRRIIIIIFFFFFIIIIIINNNNNN!!!!>
That’s right. I went 1-0 that night. And nothing tells me that anything will be different this time around. I don’t care if you bring your NGS buddies with you. I got an email from your precious little club a few weeks ago, shortly after I pinned you. It read and I quote off the top of my head.
"Hey you wrassle good, wanna join our bunch and rulz this place."
I said I would have to think on it and frankly after what I've seen from the bunch of you I respectfully decline, well I suppose that wasn't very respectful way to do it though huh. <Gabe laughs>
This week Ian it’s a new beginning; a new road to travel. A path I am making for myself. If it begins with you, then so much the better. My last path brought me to the cusp of becoming a champion. It’s only fitting that you are my opponent to reset my goals and begin again. I know you work and train hard to get to where you are. This week you have better trained harder then ever before. You have better put a game plan that is near flawless this week. Congratulations on graduating from Kindergarten now let the real lessons begin.
Ian you do what you need to get your affairs in order, come Thursday I am going to prove once again what it means to be enrolled in Beat-U.

Chapter 5
1.
Light peeks through curtained windows as Gabe sleeps quietly. His bedroom is dark save for the few rays of morning light that penetrate the inky blackness of Gabriel Griffins room. The only movement is the soft breathing of Gabriel as he sleeps soundlessly.
A soft creak floats through the room almost betraying the slow slide of the door opening. A hunched figure enters the room quietly holding their breath so the sounds of giggles won’t be heard.
"BANG" the lights go on and Gabe lunches himself nearly 3 feet off the bed turning with anger in his eyes. "What the hell?" He utters through clenched teeth.
Angel nearly falls over laughing. She can barely get the words "morning roomie." out between the gales of laughter.
"Angel why in the hell did you do that? God woman." Gabe spits out. The anger in his voice is evident and his furled brow shows a restraint from Gabe like a caged wolf looking for a way and a reason to get out.
"Sorry, Sorry. That was way too funny. It’s not my fault." She stammers between breaths of laughing. "Cami put me up to it she thought it would be funny and she didn’t want you to forget her while she was back in Chicago this week."
"Please, how can I ever forget Cami. That reminds me I need to call her today." Gabe says absently. "Now get out of my room so I can get up," he throws a pillow and Angel hitting her as she backs out of the room laughing.
2.
The gym was dirty worn down and smelled like the back end of a wet dog. Angel crumpled her nose as Gabe and she walked in. Gabe was smiling broadly almost elated to be arriving into such broken down place.
"Ah I feel like I am home every time I come here." Gabe says softly.
"What the hell do you mean, this place is,... ew." Angel responds.
"Its great isnt it?" Gabe asks with a smirk. "Look you wanted to train and you have a lot of way to go, this is an old buddy of my coaches gym, and Steve is the best and the basics. He promised to work with you these first month or so to bring you to a basic level that I can work with. I have too much of my own training to run through the basics. Don't worry you are in perfect hands."
Gabe shows Angel to the locker room and once they are both changed they meet back in the more public areas of the gym. Gabe takes the time to introduce Angel to Steve Bentley. Steve is a tall lean man with only the hint of grey showing across his close cropped. He stands silently watching Gabe and Angel as they approach.
"Steve, so glad to meet you, Coach speaks nothing but high praises about you." Gabe says.
"Huh, well he always knew who was the better wrestler, “Steve smirks. “So this is the new recruit?"
"Yea she has some gymnastics background but really needs to learn to take a bump, Badly."
"Well we will get her up to par the next couple weeks, but I will let you know after today."
"I'm right here fellas, I’m not invisible." Angel interrupts with a hint of agitation in her voice.
"Yes, Yes you are. "Gabe says dryly. "Ok follow Steve he will show you the ropes. Myself I will be over there working on a few grapples and more advanced moves."
Angel gives a slight pouty face before brightening as she follows Steve to the rookie corner.
The next few hours pass uneventfully as Angel learns how to fall properly and be tossed without hurting herself and others. Gabe's work out is a lot more advanced as he and his sparring partner work through a series of holds, counters and reverses. Soon the timer dings signaling the end of the training time. Angel and Gabe meet back up after each cleans up and changes.
"Good practice?" Gabe asks.
"I suppose, I hurt everywhere and even in places I didn’t know could hurt."
"Sounds like you’re doing it right." Gabe laughs.
3.
"Did you call her?" a voice yells from the other room. It comes across as a bit distorted but Angels timbre can easily be made out.
"Yes." Gabe yells back from the kitchen/living room open area. "She says she will be coming back on Wednesday so we can work out our plans with the others."
"When are you announcing it?" Angels voice drifts from her upstairs bedroom like a balloon made of lead.
"This week," Gabe says annoyed. "We have been through this, I don’t need anyone knowing about it until after Thursday Night. So No, I won’t tell you who is a part of it. just that She is helping me get organized."
"But I want in on your secrets, I am your manager. Shouldn't I be in the know." Angle pleads from upstairs.
"Look Angel, you have a tendency to, how to I put it, nicely. Let information slip like water through a sieve."
"That’s mean Gabe. I can keep a secret."
"Like Poland kept their land against Germany." Gabe says laughing. "I’m sorry, I'm sorry. Look after this week everyone will know and I will let you in on more of the info.”
"Aww, phooey. Fine be that way. "Angel finishes with an Hrmphf.
