I don't call last week's victory much of one. Sure, beating the world champion was a ton of fun and very helpful to my career. It makes me look good overall. But both Drake and I know it's far from over. This wasn't much of anything in the grand scheme of things.
I must say that Laura barring the rest of the AOA from ringside was a big letdown, as I'd much rather have taken them all on right then and there. But, I guess she wanted this to be fair. But I don't know who she's trying to fool, this isn't fair, and it's never going to be, unless 4 other people decide to stand along side me. If that is AJ Stark's choice, then so be it. I hate to admit it, but I'm going to need him this week, facing Drake, Chris and Jack Dogwin. I have no idea where Jack stands in all of this, it seems to me that he's simply an unofficial member of the group, and that's not something I'm going to linger on. It doesn't really matter at this point. I don't really care what side Jack is on.
Chris and Drake really believe they make a good team, and they do. And the honest truth is that AJ and I are 0-1 as a team. Doesn't mean we can't change it, but I look at the bright side of the situation, AJ beat Jack, and I've taken down both Chris and Drake before. I have confidence that we indeed can come through this week.
I've already proven I can beat both men, but that hasn't stopped either from telling me how they're going to win. How they've become dominant. How they've got complete control. Well, mostly Drake, Chris just told me he was going to elbow me again and spit the group line over and over. We're the AOA, we're so great. Let me explain this to you Chris, You are a tag team champion because you beat a dysfunctional team, and you have next to no competition. No one cares what belt that you hold. Honestly, you and Andre and pretty much the weak links of the AOA. Even Kuk is more of threat than you'll ever be.
You may remember that I asked you Drake if you are prepared to deal with casualties, right? Chris is the one I'm talking about. Chris is your best friend, and I could very easily take him out. It makes me wonder why you even chose him as your partner in the first place. I guess to make him feel good, but humoring the poor boy will not make him any better. It will not make him any more skilled, any more talented. It's just going to make you look like a man who is putting pity above common sense.
And you wouldn't do that, would you? Mr. Evil guy like you would never make a mistake like that. I find it funny that you would liken yourself to Batman and call yourself evil. Are you really trying to out comic book me right now? Are you really thinking that mentioning Batman would make me upset? Like it stick in my craw? What is it with people trying to play my game all the time like they know what they're talking about. Batman is one of the most heroic people ever created. And you sit there and sully his good name by linking it to you being evil. You don't sound like Batman, you never have, you never will.
You sir, cannot be Batman.
But this is just another week where we continue this fight, another small skirmish in what will be a bloody, brutal war. I have beaten your girlfriend twice. I have beaten just about every member of the Age of Arrogance. And I'm not stopping until the job is done.
And once it's done, one you are no longer in power, I don't have play hero anymore. I don't have to fight the wars until someone else pops up. And I'm sure there will be more. There's always more. It's a never ending battle. But I will at least earn some rest. Until I am needed again. I am the guardian against the scum like you and Chris. I stand here when no one else will. I am the rock.
Drake, there is nothing you've said I haven't heard a million super villains like you say before. I get it, the best villains believe that they are in the right. That might apply to you, you believe that you are right, and that I am wrong. It's not uncommon. People continue to doubt and try to prove me wrong all the time. It's nothing new to me. Another thing that isn't new is being proven to be correct in the long run anyway. It just seems that people just want to argue for the sake of it. But it is getting old.
You are no different from any other tyrant, any other dictator, sooner or later, you fall. You can't squash me like a bug Drake, I'll keep coming back. I've already told you. You as always have the numbers advantage this week.
Let's see if you can actually make it count for something.
[ Roxi sits at the table in her apartment, moping. Sydney is pacing behind her ]
Sydney - Still nothing?
Roxi - Nothing.
Sydney - You're right, it's weird.
Roxi - Who goes out at 2am?
Sydney - We do.
Roxi - That's our job, Z.
Sydney - Maybe it's his job too?
Roxi - Somehow I doubt it.
Sydney - Okay, so...maybe it just...wasn't that good?
Roxi - You are an awful person.
Sydney - I'm just exploring all the options here.
Roxi - That's not funny. I thought it was good.
Sydney - But did he?
Roxi - Well, he did a lot of moaning and grunting.
Sydney - That could mean anything.
Roxi - You're not helping.
Sydney - I'm trying.
Roxi - You are failing. Miserably.
Sydney - I don't know what to tell you Rox. It's weird.
Roxi - I already knew that.
Sydney - Did you follow him?
Roxi - No.
Sydney - Well, why not?
Roxi - Because I didn't want to...intrude. He leaves me alone.
Sydney - But you don't abruptly walk out after sex at 2am.
Roxi - I'm...just so confused.
Sydney - Did you call him?
Roxi - I tried.
Sydney - Anything?
Roxi - He didn't answer.
Sydney - Try again.
[ Roxi dials...]
Roxi - Straight to voicemail.
Sydney - I...you think he's in trouble?
Roxi - I don't know. I'm worried.
Sydney - Just have a little faith.
Roxi - I don't know. You think...you think was a break-up?
Sydney - This would be the worst break-up of all time. No call, no argument...just...love her and leave her without anything.
Roxi - You think?
Sydney - Well, I do know you.
Roxi - SHUT. UP. Z.
Sydney - I'm just trying to ease the tension.
Roxi - Ease it one someone else.
Sydney - You are no fun, you know that?
Roxi - I've been told worse.
Sydney - So...anyway, what's next?
Roxi - I don't know...
[Finally, an idea pops in Roxi's head. ]
Roxi - You know what, I'm going over there.
Sydney - You are?
Roxi - Yes. I think I'm owed some answers.
Sydney - You don't want to do anything rash now.
Roxi - He forced me out of his apartment at 2am, I'm going to find out why.
Sydney - We have a patrol to do.
Roxi - It can wait.
Sydney - No. Come on, it's just one guy.
Roxi - One guy who I liked.
[ Roxi stands and begins to leave Sydney trailing behind.]
Sydney - Wait for me!
Roxi - You?
Sydney - You think I'd miss this?
Roxi - ...
Sydney - Love you...
Roxi - Hurry up.
