OOC: Trying out something different.
That first day back in Vegas was the toughest I've had since getting out of prison. It was the only day I really got the itch to get back in the game since being out of prison. Being on the road, in sold out arenas and doing what I love to do has helped a great deal. It got my mind off of it. It was something else that I was good at. It was something that I could afford to be addicted to.
My other addiction? Gambling. It got me in a lot of trouble but was also some of my best days. The rush I got from playing was untouched until I got into an MPW wrestling ring.
Today was my first day back in Vegas since the first few days after I got out of jail. Surprisingly I hadn't even thought about gambling. Until something happened that I didn't expect. I honestly didn't even think about the people I knew before prison.
Today though, as I was walking through the the lobby of my hotel on my way out to get something to eat, I heard a voice I hadn't heard in a long time.
"Luke?! Is that you?" The voice said as I stepped out of the hotel and onto the street. It caught me off guard. At first I didn't even think he was talking to me. "Lucas King?" The voice was now familiar as I turned and saw one of my old gambling buddies.
"Rob Stone. It's been a long time old friend." I say as we hug each other and he looks me up and down.
"How long have you been out for? I had no idea you were out." He asks.
"A few months now." I tell him.
"I see how it is. Can't even call an old friend huh?" He asks me.
"It's not like that man. I've been pretty damn busy. I just signed a contract with Millenium Pro Wrestling. It became official a few weeks ago." I tell him.
"Well damn. I guess as far as excuses go that's pretty good. I wish I could talk more man but I'm already late. We should catch up sometime though." He says
"Definitely man..." I begin to say before he cuts me off.
"Actually...I'm going to a game. I know it's probably been a while, but you want in?" He asks the question I was hoping he wouldn't. Of course I wanted to go. Should I? No chance in hell. Will I?
"You serious?" I ask him as I begin to get the itch.
"Dead serious. But we gotta go now. You in?" He asks.
"Yeah...I'm in..." I say as I reach my hand out to shake his hand.
"Same old King I see. Let's see if you still got it..." He shakes my hand before we start walking.
I shouldn't have said yes. I should have went and gotten some food and gotten back in the gym but Vegas has that effect on some people. Maybe it was something in the air, and even though I knew it was a mistake, I still went.
What happened next? Let's just say I still had it...
Two matches in and I'm really starting to get a hang of this. Doesn't surprise me much seeing how I'm a natural athlete and I've always been able to pick things up easily. Plus I've been fighting my whole life anyway so the way I saw things it wasn't that big of an adjustment.
I know my competition hasn't really been the best of the best thus far but with limited wrestling experience and very little training thus far a 2-0 record is pretty damn impressive if you ask me. The scary part is that I can only get better. The more time I spend in the ring either training or in matches the more I'll improve. I know people don't really look at me as a threat at the moment and that's completely understandable. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who don't even know my name.
For now. Because the way I see it, it won't be long before I start to make a serious impact. It won't be long until people start saying who is this Lucas King kid. And I will do everything I can to make that sooner rather than later.
The next step in that progression is beating Jason X on TNT this Thursday Night to get my third victory here in the MPW. This one will be different though. The first one was on the pre show so it didn't have the same feel as this one and the second one was a tag team match where I wasn't even able to fully display my skills.
This is different though. This is a standard match against a former champion. Jason X hasn't had the greatest career here in the MPW and has been stuck in the TV Title division for quite some time but there's no denying his impact in that division. He has a lot of wins here in the MPW, BUT he also has a lot of losses here in the MPW.
Either way it will be good to get in the ring with an established wrestler here in the MPW and show my worth. Show everyone that I'm better than a former TV Champion. Why is that important? Because that's my first of many goals here in the MPW. I want to not only win the MPW TV Title but I want to be the greatest TV Champion the MPW has ever seen.
What better way to get my name out there in that division than to beat Jason X, a former TV Champion and a top contender for said belt.
I know that you think you're a future two time TV Champion, and you might be. But I think you're selling me a little bit short. I'm not like the rest of these guys you've been wrestling in the TV Title division. I'm pretty sure you don't think I have a chance to win this match, and that's fine with me.
But what happens when I beat you? What will you say then? How will anyone be able to give you a shot at the TV Title when you couldn't even beat me in my third ever match?
And I am going to beat you Jason. I've seen you in the ring and I don't even think you're that good. I honestly think Mike Savage might be better and I'm pretty sure that guy has yet to even win a match. And after I stomp your ass out you can really ponder on what's next for you as you think about the fact that I am just straight up better than you. So even if you do end up winning the TV Title before I do you will always know that I'm coming for you and that I'm better than you.
I have something you don't Jason. Potential. I have the potential to one day move up from the TV Title division and become a serious threat here in the MPW meanwhile you will forever be where you are. You've hit your cap. You will never be better than you are today and for someone like you that's OK.
On Thursday I take another step forward in my career and I get to prove something at the same time. I get to prove that I'm better than you Jason. I get to prove that maybe I can be a threat in this division sooner rather than later. Time to make a statement...
