***The MPW opens to a wall mounted flat screen television, screen filled by black and white static. The television appears to be the only light in the room, and the silence in the room is deafening. As the comes slowly swings in a half circle, the room can clearly be identified as a hotel room. Continuing to spin, the camera rests on Samuel of The Night Terrors, laying on the bed, clothed in his trademark black trenchcoat and all, propped up by pillows behind his back and head. Samuel’s hands are locked behind his head. As the camera rests on Samuel, he continues to stare at the static, almost entranced by it. After another moment or two of silence, without moving his eyes, Samuel begins to speak...***
Samuel: I hate television these days. So many shows flood the airwaves, pretending to be scary. Cultural phenomenons such as The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Dexter, and so many other romanticize monsters. Worse than that, they take those monsters on which the shows are based, whether living or dead, man or beast, and try to twist the monsters until they are beloved by the fans of the respective show. You see men and women dress up like these monsters, such as all of the losers attending this week’s San Diego Comic Con, trying to show their support for a show that spreads lies like a wildfire. But these shows that fill the airwaves lack a certain amount of creativity. And the reason for that, is that nothing that can be aired on television can ever match the true horrors of the mind. These shows always wrap up their stories with a little bow, presenting the world with a form of entertainment that “normal” people can watch and feel proud of themselves for watching. They sit there, the fear inside each and every one of them bubbling in excitement, and laugh with their friends after every “scare”.
However, what each and every person out there watching those shows really fear is the silence that takes hold once they turn off their shows and let their imagination run wild. They fear the wild thoughts that take hold of their minds as they lay down at night, and are unable to fall asleep. Worse yet, those very thoughts in their minds eventually take hold, and hold their dreams hostage. They cringe at the images that fill their eyes as they roll in the back of their head. People use these shows to tame their imagination, because in reality, what the mind sees, the reality of the world, is much worse. The things lurking in the shadows tame any images that can be seen by those who take a glimpse of the truth. I want all of you to take a moment, and look at this television...
***The MPW camera turns back to the television, watching the static dance across the screen in silence. After a moment, Samuel again begins to speak to the motionless camera...***
Samuel: I don’t know what each individual sees when they look at this. The idiots can not look beyond the static, and claim they see nothing. The intelligent lie, and say they see images of glory. The naive and scared masses though tune out what they see before them, and instead allow their imagination to form right in front of them. But the monsters, the real monsters of this world, see the light in the darkness. They see the truth in the unknown that lays in front of their very eyes. Monsters like my brother Clay and I, we see the truth. And believe me when I say this, I see the truth, and the truth is more terrifying then you can even imagine...
***The MPW camera turns toward Samuel again, who is now sitting at the foot of the bed, and he is glaring into the camera, with a eerie smile on his face...***
Samuel: Speaking of truths, let me fill in the world of some of the MPW truths that were revealed last Thursday. First of all, while MPW celebrated it’s one year anniversary, the had the crew members working hard on a special video package to celebrate the history of the MPW. It’s their show, they can fill it with whatever nonsense they wish. However, after going back and watching the video for a second time, I was surprised to find that The Night Terrors were ignored in the video package, even though we were undefeated at the time. Even though we are the future of the MPW. The Night Terrors had been slighted, but we aren’t here to be celebrated in video packages, or to be loved by the MPW fans. So we ignored it, and went on with my brother’s match against Adam Steele later in the evening...
However, it was evident to those who watched Takedown that Bob Herman and the rest of MPW management decided that for one night, they wanted to mortgage the future to celebrate the past. Wrong choice as it was, I’m sure each and every MPW fan in the arena and in homes around the world went home happy as Johnny Clash was able to pin the MPW World Champion, Trey Baxter. Familiar faces filled everybody’s heart with a sense of longing for the old days and a certain warmth of the past. But when it comes down to it, how does looking back at broken down ex-MPW personalities and wrestlers get a still growing promotion such as the MPW ready for one of the biggest nights of the year, Goldrush? The answer, it does not get MPW ready for anything. In fact, I fear that it may have hurt the importance that is Goldrush more than anything. Strike one for “MPW Management”..
My brother and I saw the error of their ways, but we allowed them their one night to look back to a past that was familiar to them, instead of looking into the the unknown sitting before them. But after my brother Clay defeated the pathetic Adam Steele in the middle of the ring, 1, 2, 3, and then together The Night Terrors nearly ended the childlike life of Adam’s brother Matt, we decided to deliver a message to MPW Management. We had proven just how power one can be when they embrace the fear. We have wiped the floor with our so called “competition” thus far in the MPW. We have shown the world that there is only one team in the MPW worthy enough to hold those Tag Team Championships held hostage by Baxter and Blaze. And did they listen? Did MPW Management finally listen to reason and do the right thing by their own company and give The Night Terrors the shot at the MPW Tag Team Championships we deserve. Simply put, no. Strike two...
***Samuel stands up, and takes off his black trench coat, revealing a torn and frayed skin tight black shirt below. Through the tears of the shirt, large visible scars can be seen, but Samuel seems to not be affected by them. Samuel drops the coat on the floor, and sits back down on the edge of the bed, never taking his eyes off the camera...***
Samuel: Even having been enlightened of the correct choice to make, Bob Herman and the rest of “MPW” Management decided that instead of showing the world the greatest match that the MPW has ever seen, he would rather that I step into the ring again with “The Savior” Taufik, while Trey Baxter gets to walk around with the MPW Tag Team Championship around his waist yet again, undefended. When I first heard this news, I have to say, I was infuriated. I couldn’t fathom why a man who claims he wants the best for the MPW would sit there and hurt his own promotion by holding back the future of this industry. Instead of taking the MPW to levels of credibility that have never been seen in this business, Bob Herman again ignored the most powerful force in the MPW locker room, The Night Terrors. Strike three Bob...
But now, days after Takedown, I finally understand Bob. I finally “get” it. You see, we are not being overlooked. We are not being ignored. “MPW Management” is simply afraid of the things my brother and I represent. They don’t know how to market people like us,who have embraced the true reality of fear and darkness. They can’t wrap their ignorant minds around our message of truth, so they bury us in a sea of nobodies. They use The Night Terrors, a force they know can not be controlled, to weed out the bottom feeders of the MPW. While The Night Terrors decimate each and every competitor that step into the ring against us, “MPW Management” gets to protect their “main event” talent, ensuring that the fans shell out every last buck to see men like Johnny Clash and MPW World Champion Trey Baxter before The Night Terrors can get their hands on them. Because, without exaggeration, there is nobody that can stand up to The Night Terrors, not in this company, or this country, or even this planet. Bob Herman and the rest of his cronies know that to be a fact. So keep trying to hold us back, cleaning up the mess that is the bottom of the MPW roster, I don’t mind. Because when you stare into my eyes Bob, you know that you are only delaying the inevitable. When our opponents look into to eyes from across the ring, they for the first time see that their own fears stand in front of them, ready to take hold. The Night Terrors will have their day on top, sooner or later. Until then, my attention turns to Taufik...
***Beside the bed in which Clay is sitting, a cell phone lights up and grabs Samuel’s attention. Samuel stands, and walks over to the nightstand, between the two beds in the room, in which the the phone is resting on, and picks up the phone. After what appears to be Samuel replying to a text message, the phone goes dark, and Samuel sets it back on the nightstand. Samuel hops back into his bed, and sits up, back resting against the wooden backboard. Looking back into the camera, Samuel once again speaks...***
Samuel: As I said, this upcoming Thursday Night Takedown, I will be going one on one with MPW “Veteran” Taufik. In case you don’t remember, The Night Terrors squared off against Taufik and “The Samurai” Shaun Cross on the Independence Day episode of Takedown. Taufik and Shaun Cross were soundly defeated, to the point where Cross has yet to even show his face to his beloved MPW fans. Worse yet for my opponent, not only was he pinned by my brother after the Fall to Grace, but he suffered a severe case of P.T.S.D. after the match. And as we stood there, addressing the MPW crowd, I looked down at the sad little man Taufik, whose body was limp in the middle of the ring, and couldn’t help but feeling bad...
Before you ask, no, I didn’t actually feel bad for what my brother and I did to him. Nor did I feel bad about him being on the receiving end of some of the worst punishment he has experienced as a year long member of the MPW roster. I felt bad for him, because he lives a complete fabrication of life. When Taufik is not in the ring, he is spending time with people he secretly can’t stand, whether he’ll ever admit it or not, playing video games and arguing over the reality of female anatomy in said games. He calls himself “The Savior”, when he worships a God in Allah who is not and will never be real except in his private wishes. Lately, the only way Taufik could get a victory was over a blonde bimbo who shouldn’t even be stepping in the ring with the big boys. Though to be fair, she did beat my brother’s previous opponent Adam Steele pretty easily. And since you did defeat her with that little fluke school boy roll up, you obviously can be called a better wrestler than one member of Real Steele. Congratulations Taufik, real big deal there. You’re officially better than one half of the most pathetic tag team in the MPW, wow. That’s as close as you’re going to get to a compliment from me...
When it comes down to it Taufik, you are just another stepping stone for The Night Terrors, and I don’t care if you’re tired of hearing that, because the fact of the matter is that is one hundred percent true. So while you live your life playing games, making friends, praying to celestial beings who don’t exist, just like the pathetic MPW fans who cheer for you week after week, loss after loss, The Night Terrors are preparing to take hold of the MPW by the throat and choke the life out of it. You lead a life ignorant of the truth. You live your life in fear of never being able to take that next step here in the MPW. You fear becoming irrelevant in the eyes of your peers. I hate to break this to you Taufik, but when matched against me, a follower of the darkness, a monster of the imagination, you are exactly that, irrelevant. Until you wise up and realize that you are just walking down the path millions have before you, living in fear of mediocrity and living up to exactly that, you don’t stand a chance against me...
I want to make one last thing clear though Taufik. I do not plan to take you lightly at Takedown. I understand that you are a former Champion, both in singles and tag action. Being a former Champion however, makes you a man who lost his championship not once, but twice. You are a two time championship loser. Whether you would ever admit it to the world, or more importantly yourself, you know that eats away at you deep down inside. You know just how powerful of a force my brother and I are in that ring, and that you could never stand up to that power. You know just how dangerous The Night Terrors are, and just how far you would have to go to ever stand a chance of defeating me. And the entire world knows what you’re going to say when you hear my words. You want revenge for the loss two weeks ago. You want to prove that you belong with the MPW’s elite. You want to show that you can hang with the big boys instead of just being a roster filler. You’ll say that no matter the mind games I play or the words I speak, you’re not afraid of me. Taufik, you should be afraid of me. Any sane man should be afraid of the monster coming out to stalk him. I live in darkness, embrace the fear, and because of that, hold the power of the truth. You need to think twice before walking down to that ring my friend, because there will be nobody to help you avoid your permanent transition to MPW stepping stone. Say what you want about me, that I’m a freak, that I’m weird, but the one thing you can’t say about me is that I’m a liar. Listen to my words, and know I am speaking the truth. See you at Takedown Taufik...
***As Samuel finishes speaking, silence takes hold of the room. That silence is short lived however, as the sound of the door creaking open fills the camera feed. The camera turns toward the door, and Clay, the other half of The Night Terrors, is standing in the open doorway, holding a twenty four pack of Budweiser. Clay looks over to Samuel, ignoring the camera, and asks his brother a question...***
Clay: You done, or do you need more time?
Samuel: No, we just finished up. Come on in...
***Clay steps into the room, and shuts the door behind him using his right leg. Clay walks over to the second bed, and put the beer down. After taking off his black boots, Clay lays down on his bed and grabs a beer. He holds it out to Samuel, but Samuel shakes his head no...***
Samuel: Not tonight Clay, we are hitting the road in the morning, and I don’t want to be hung over for the trip...
Clay: I wasn’t planning on splitting these fifty/fifty Samuel. I was just offering you one. You’re lucky to get that, you know me...
Samuel: Yes, I know you. How could I have ever thought that you were going to play nice and share. Silly me...
***Both men chuckle, but Samuel’s face goes stoic first. Clay sits back like Samuel, back pressed against the backboard of the bed, and cracks open the first of his beers. Clay chugs the whole thing at once, and then crushes the can in his hand. Clay tosses it across the room, and grabs a second beer. Before he can open it, Samuel turns toward his brother, and starts to speak...***
Samuel: Before you drink too many of those, I need to speak with you...
***Clay lowers his second beer, and places it on the nightstand. Clay swings his legs to the side of the bed, and looks back at his brother...
Clay: This isn’t going to be a long story, is it? I plan on these being gone in the hour...
Samuel: On Thursday, when I go to the ring to take on Taufik, I want you to stay behind in the locker room...
Clay: Why would you...?
Samuel: Let me finish real quick. I don’t want Taufik to have any excuse when I beat him. Because we both know, even you standing outside of that ring, watching the match, is enough to distract any man. In the back of Taufik’s mind, all he will do is worry about whether you’re going to get involved or not. I plan on showing Taufik the truth out there on Thursday Night Takedown, and I think he will be more receptive to the truth if he can’t find excuses for his loss...
Clay: If that’s what you want, then okay. I’ll stay in the back, and maybe go check on Angel Kash. I have a feeling she could use a big friend, if you know what I mean...
Samuel: I always know what you mean, Clay...
***Both ned go back to sitting on their respective beds, lounging against the headboard while watching the television...***
Clay: And by big friend, I mean my dick...
***Samuel closes his eyes and shakes his head, letting out a small chuckle. Both men continue to watch the television in silence, and Clay finishes his second beer, crushing the can, and tossing it across the room again...***
Clay: I love this show...
Samuel: Yeah, I know what you mean brother...
***As Samuel grabs another beer, the camera turns back toward the television, which is still muted in static. The camera zooms in, so the static is the only thing being picked up by the camera feed. Just as the camera fades to black, the static on the screen begins to form into two terrifying images. Those images, which are the last things seen, appear to be the faces of Samuel and Clay, The Night Terrors, gazing into your very soul...............***
