Scene ~
A piece of paper topped with the MPW logo is shown. The writing on it, no longer than a paragraph, contains directions. Directions to this building.
...:This looks like the place...
~ Aeryn lifts her sunglasses from her face and folds them into her hand as she looks up at the sign above the door way. She tucks the paper away in to the bag on her shoulder and walks forward towards the double doors, reaching her hand out, she pulls back just as her fingers graze the handle and turns back towards the street taking a few steps back out on to the pavement...hesitating, She paces.
*Internal monologue*
Aeryn: Are you sure?...Are you really sure you want to do this? Its not to late. Just walk. No one knows your here. Just walk back to the car and drive, don't look back...
~ A conversation that had played through her mind a thousand times since the phone call from Bob Herman offering her the chance to return to professional wrestling, at MPW no less. It started as a little voice in the back of her mind, that day by day grew steadily louder, asking the same question over and over again begging to be answered. “Are you sure you've still got it?” The truth is that, that was the million dollar question that only getting in a wresting ring with an accomplished opponent could answer.
There was no doubt that her skill and talent in a ring hadn't been proven time and time again previously. She had been in the ring with some of the best the world had to offer and won. Titles were no rarity either, she had had plenty of those adorning her waist over the years. But five long years had passed since then and that brash unabashed confidence in her abilities that had been so prevalent before, had turned on her becoming a nagging doubt.
The other question was did she really need to come back, to put her self back in a ring. Hadn't she already done everything in wrestling that she could possibly need to do? Retirement had, despite its initial frustrations, treated her well. She had made her money and was living a comfortable life... A comfortable life...yeah that's what it was, comfortable with a capital C. Sure she had her fun but nothing could ever match the thrill of 20,000 people chanting your name in an arena...the kick of adrenaline, the spark.
That was what was missing from her life, the thing she had tried to suppress and tell her self that she didn't need, didn't miss. But she did, oh she really did! Like a recovering addict, she had that dull ache deep inside calling her, tempting her back to her old life. Now with the chance set in front of her she had to admit to herself that for the first time in years she felt whole again.
That feeling is what had brought her this far. To the front doors of the MPW headquarters ready to put pen to paper on a brand new contract.
She feels a hand on her shoulder, shaking her gently. Taking stock of her surroundings she realises that she has made it to the waiting room outside Bob Herman's office. Jamie McKenzie is looking down at her with a slight look of concern.
Jamie: Aeryn? Aeryn are you ok? Are you ready, Bob's waiting.
Aeryn raises from her seat and for the first time that day feels a smile spread across her lips.
Aeryn: You know what..screw it... I am ready. Lets get this show on the road!
