The scene open up in to the main arena at the Staple Centre. There are a couple of hours left before Reloaded and the place is a hive of activity. Technicians and riggers performing their final checks on equipment as wrestler’s make preparations for there up coming matches. The ring is already set up and from it the grunts and groans of trainees can be heard as they are put through their paces.
At the top of the arena Aeryn can be seen, dressed in her workout gear, a black pair of yoga pants with a hoodie, hood pulled up over her head. iPod in her ears blasting music, shutting out the world around her. She jogs around the back of the seats at the summit of the arena and then runs down the next set of stairs that she comes to, to the barricade surrounding the ring. She repeats the pattern, jogging up the next set of step and then back down, the muscles in her legs burning and a sheen of sweat covering her face, as she makes her way around the arena. As she is completing her set she looks up and sees Soul Shadow down near the ring. Slowing to a walk as comes to the bottom of the steps she removes her hood and walks across to where Soul is standing on the opposite side of the barricade, watching some of the trainees run the ropes and go through drills with wrestlers on the main roster. Aeryn smiles and laughs a little, making Soul jump as he turns around to see her standing behind him.
Aeryn points towards the ring casually as she takes her earphones out, holding the wire loosely in her fingers as she places her hands atop the barricade.
Aeryn: Those were the days ehh...
Soul nods and smiles in return
Soul: Oh yeah, nothing quite like taking an ass beating from a vet.
Aeryn: Are you getting in there with them? Your about the vet-iest vet we have around here.
Soul feigns a hurt look.
Soul: Uncalled for!
Aeryn: Im joking, im joking. Your not that old...
She put her hand on his arm briefly, then places it back on the barricade.
Aeryn: So really, are you going to get in there with them?
Soul: No, just watching. I'll wait until our match tonight to get in the ring.
Aeryn nods, dabbing at a bead of sweat running down her cheek from her forehead with the cuff of her sleeve.
Aeryn: Probably for the best. No point in using up extra energy, tonight's not going to be the easiest of matches anyway...and i'm not just talking in terms of our opponent’s. Jason hasn't exactly ingratiated himself into the team spirit, he likes you, but I really don't rank highly on his list of competent wrestler’s after my loss last week.
Soul looks at Aeryn and chuckles, casually waving a hand towards her.
Soul: Your telling me not to waste my energy?!
Aeryn: This is merely a warm up my friend, there's still plenty left in the tank for later.
She smiles.
Soul: Alright if you say so. As for Jason you just have to go in there tonight and prove him wrong. Like I told you in Boston, it's us and Chris Radke really under the microscope tonight not Jason, Taufik or Emi. They've made there mark in this company already.
Aeryn nods
Aeryn: Oh I know, and I don't need telling twice...To be quite honest I don't really care what Jason X thinks of me, im not here to please him or anyone else. I think we'll all be happier when this match is in the bag and he gets to go back to his usual solitary existence...
Soul smiles.
Soul: Yeah your probably right.
Aeryn looks at her watch.
Aeryn: I better get going, not long until show time and I look like shit.
She pulls at her sweaty hoodie.
Aeryn: See you at bell time Soul.
She starts to walk off but then turns back.
Aeryn: Oh...I forgot to say thanks before, you know...for inviting me down to train with you this week. Even though its only a temporary arrangement, it was fun having a partner to grapple around with for a while. Hopefully we get to put a few of those double team moves we worked on into action later.
Soul: Your welcome.
She smiles and turns back towards the ramp, disappearing backstage as Soul returns his attention to the action in the ring.
The scene opens again inside Aeryn's locker room. She has showered and and is in the final stages of changing into her ring gear for the evening. Setting a metal chair in front of her she sits on her couch and places her foot on the edge of it, lacing her boots then slipping on her kick pads. She stands in front of her mirror admiring the final look. Her dark hair, still slightly damp from the shower, falling around her shoulders and setting off the emerald colour of her outfit. Nodding at the reflection she moves off to another section of the room. A camera has been set up opposite a chair. Aeryn sits and waits for the red light on the camera to flash on.
Aeryn: Laila you've emerged right on cue, match day and here you are. Just a shame that i'm not the one getting a second chance at a match with you. That jobs falls to Roxi Johnson, and I wish her all the best in doing what I failed to do in ending your streak before it had a chance to get started.
Now I wouldn't and shouldn't be sitting here right now, but you asked me a question that I feel need to be answered.
Why did it take an ass kicking to regain my fire? A perfectly valid question from you, for once.
So whats the answer. I signed my MPW contract with the confidence in my abilities that I have always possessed, which was then backed up and re-enforced with my win over Lance Smith. But then you came along, and I went into that match with you ready for a fight, But what I didn't realise was that confidence alone wasn't going to cut it. Because you weren't in that ring to win a match were you, you were in there to eradicate me from the MPW roster!
You really want to know why it took that beating to regain my fire?! It's because up until that point I didnt fully appreciate what I could have lost until you attempted to wrench it from my life! More fool me huh?! Because all I ended up doing was looking like some punk having to be rescued by the Resistance, and making you look like the unstoppable force in the process.
There is a knock on the door. Aeryn glances across at the door.
Voice: ...5 minutes, we need you at the curtain.
Aeryn: Well I am no punk bitch and your not unstoppable Laila, far from it. I truly hope that I get to face you again one day to prove that myself, but if I don't, I am going to enjoy watching who ever does. Disgusting bullies deserve nothing more than being put in their place.
Aeryn stands, and walks out of sight of the camera. A door creaks open and then clicks shut as the scene fades.
