Let’s Being Shall We
~The scene begins with a black screen. Not because it’s a dark room but because it’s a black screen. Suddenly, a voice can be heard of that of a woman. She sounds professional and smart and by listening in her voice, you can hear that she has something to prove. Her name is Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg and she’s trying to do the one thing that so many people have tried to do for over a decade but failed. She’s trying to figure out what makes the individual known as Crow tick.
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “Journal entry one for Doctor Rosenberg. I have undergone this study of a Christopher Wilson, not for personal reasons or fame, but to better understand the man that goes by the name of Crow. For decades, psychologists have tried to understand how this man ticks ever since his first session with Doctor Lucier back in early 2000. Doctor Lucier, who was a well-known and a respectful physician of his days, called Crow’s mind one of the most horrifying minds that he has ever worked with. Shortly after working with Crow, he committed suicide with a shot gun blast to the head. This type of action has been followed with every other doctor that has ever worked with Crow. To better understand Crow, I must understand what past doctors have tried with Crow and to see what works and what doesn’t. For the people that have worked with Crow in the past, only a handful survived. And out of those individuals, a slight few will tell their story. I have contacted one of these individuals who were willing to tell their story. Hopefully from his testimony, I’ll be able to understand Crow better. End journal entry.
~The scene cuts over from blackness to a video recording of a man sitting in an empty and plan looking room. The man, who goes by the name of Doctor Andrew Steadman, is around his late 40’s. He has an expression of concern on his face as he stares into the camera as though he really doesn’t want to be there. You can’t get a good look into his eyes because he’s wearing black sunglasses. He doesn’t attempt to get rid of them as you can hear Doctor Rosenberg’s voice from outside of the cameras view.
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “Thank you for giving me this opportunity Doctor Steadman to interview you.”
~Steadman gives a slight smile. Sort of a forced one as he tries to give some sort of respect.
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “No problem.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “As I told you over the phone, I’m doing research on past patient of yours that you have spent time with in the past. He goes by the name of Christopher Wilkins but people know him better as the wrestler Crow. Can you tell me how you first encountered Mr. Wilkins?”
~Steadman is hesitant as first as he adjusts himself in the chair. You can see it clearly that the subject of Crow brings back bad memories, but he talks anyways.
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “Christopher first came into my life over 5 years ago. He had just lost a match against a Kurt Newman. The stipulation of the match was that if Crow had lost, he had to spend time in a mental hospital. Christopher lost and he was immediately brought to St. Mary’s Mental Institute in Chicago Illinois. I was in charge of the reforming process at the institute and was well renowned around the world for my work with mentally unstable individuals such as Christopher.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “How was your first one on one with him?”
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “When I first talked to Christopher, the man was full of rage. All he wanted to do was hurt people. The man was dangerous. Even in a straitjacket, he was able to hurt people. We had to put a mask over his mouth because he would bite the throats of our guards. I never saw a man like him before who hated so much. With the history that he had, I can understand why he ended up like he did but not to that type of level.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “Can you elaborate a little but more about his past?”
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “Christopher lived a normal life until the age of 5 when his mother, for a reason still unknown till this day, took a knife and killed his father and younger brother. He witnessed it all while he was hiding in a closet. His mother, who was reaching for the door to the closet that he was in, looked like she was going to kill him. But she stopped when she heard the sirens of police cars. So she took her own life by slitting her throat. Christopher also witnessed this. An event like that would scar any 5 year old for life. After the event with his family, he moved from foster family to foster family until he was old enough to live on his own. At the age of 22 his wife, who was 7 months pregnant at the time, was murdered at a local grocery after a failed robbery. The death of his wife and unborn child was so devastating to Christopher that he attempted suicide with razors to the wrist. Miraculously, he survived after a concern neighbor heard him fall to the ground. She called 911 and the paramedics brought him back to life after he was dead for about a minute. In my personal opinion, the losses in his life finally overcame Christopher and changed him into the man that you see today. So when Christopher came back to life, the man known as Christopher Wilkins died and the humanoid known as Crow took over.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “What were you able to find out about him as you continued his sessions with him?”
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “The major concerns were the voices that he heard in his head. He liked to cause bodily harm to himself and anyone that was around him. He also talked that Christopher Wilkins was still in his head, but was locked up in his subconscious, slowly dying away and that when that happen, then he’d be free to do whatever he wanted to do. The more we talked, the more I felt I was able to get a feeling about him. But then he’d do a complete 180 and everything that I thought turned into garbage. After a while, I felt like he was just toying with me.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “Was there a turning point at all with him?”
~A pause fills the room as the question seems to have affected Steadman as he looks back to those days with Crow.
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “Two years into his stay with us, he showed signs of change. By that time, he was separate from all the other patients with his own room and wore a straitjacket 24/7. We always had eyes on him and always had guards with shock sticks ready to be used, just in case he acted out. It had been months since he last physically harmed someone. Because of this, he was getting bored and needed a new way to hurt someone. So if you can’t physically assault someone, the next best thing is to mentally assault someone. After a while, he became more calm and more in control of his actions. The lust for blood and harm left his eyes…..but something else took its place. A new type of evil that I never seen before in him.
We didn’t notice it until we began to see suicidal deaths in the same wing he was in. People would be swallowing their own tongues or bashing their heads in with a blunt object that were in their rooms. This happen time and time again until the only person that wasn’t affected was Crow. We didn’t’ know he was doing it until we looked at video footage and found out thate he was talking through the air vents to the other patients. The other patients in that wing were listening to Crow speaking and it was driving them insane to the point where they were either killing themselves or driving them more insane. So we moved him in a wing of the hospital where he was just by himself and a few guards. Well, the guards started to kill themselves after they started to listen to Christopher. Seeing that his words were causing my violence than his fist, we acted. So we placed a new mask over his face to where he couldn’t talk any more. The only time that he could talk was when he was with me. And so…….he placed his attention on me when we talked.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “What did he say to you?”
~A pause fills the room once again as Steadman looks away from the camera and at the ground as the subject brings up to many bad memories.
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “A lot of personal stuff. Family, life, views of things. He would take the smallest things and turn them into a double edged swords that would cut my soul. His words were like barbed wire that would tear into your flesh and rip bits and pieces of you away. His voice, it was so hypnotizing at times. He knew what you wanted to hear and what you were afraid to say. Because he was locked up at the mental institute, he had plenty of time to think and be alone with himself and his thoughts. During this time, he was able to think about life in general and how we as human beings need to change for the better. He had changed his ways he said. No longer did he want to hurt people……but to save them with his words. To open their eyes to a way of life that has been lost in the history books.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “I know this is a touchy subject for you…….but can you tell me about the final incident between you two.”
~Doctor Steadman, with a slight grin on his face, motions his hand up to his glasses.
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “He convinced me to pull my own eyes out.”
~With that statement, Doctor Steadman removes the sunglasses from his face to show that he does, in fact, have no eyes. From outside of the camera’s view, you can hear Doctor Rosenberg gasp from fear before her hands cover her mouth to hide the noise.
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “My apologize Doctor Steadman……it’s just that……”
~Doctor Steadman interrupts her as he begins to talk. As he begins to talk, he puts the sunglasses back on his face.
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “No need to apologize Ms. Rosenberg. I’m use to that type of reaction now from my handicap. Since that day, I’ve gotten out of that line of work and moved on with my life. I can’t help but say that my life has been a lot better since the incident. It helped me make a decision that I had been struggling with for a while. Before I met Christopher, I hated my job and I hated my life. After the incident with Christopher, I was able to change my life for the better. I like this life I’m living in now. I have a job that I enjoy; I have a loving wife who’s pregnant with our first child. Though I have lost the ability to see, I’m able to see that my life has changed for the better. But I warn you Doctor Rosenburg……whatever you’re trying to figure out with Christopher, it’s something that you cannot do. It’s suicidal. I was barely able to get away from Christopher’s grasp with my life. Not so many people can say the same thing. My advice doctor……is to move on to something else while you’re still alive.
~Silence fills the room between the two until a soft and fearful voice of Doctor Rosenberg finally says something.
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “What happen to him after your incident?
Doctor Andrew Steadman: “They locked him up in the deepest part of that hospital and forgot about him, hoping that he would just die. But he never did. A few months ago, Kurt Newman, the man that locked him into that hospital, took him out to wrestle again. Though, I’m grateful for what he did to my life, there is no saving this man Doctor Rosenberg. The man needs to die.”
Doctor Alyssa Rosenberg: “Thank you for your time.”

~The Scene starts again in the backstage of the MPW arena. Leaning up against a wall in a hallway, we find Crow with a red apple in hand. Holding the apple with both his hands, he seems lost and in his own little world as he gazes over the apple. Crow’s state of mental nirvana is soon interrupted as he begins to speak while still looking at the apple.
Crow: “Who could had thought that a single apple could change the way we live our lives……. for it was the apple that Adam and Even bit into that that saved us and helped make us who we are today. Without the apple to open our minds and body, we would still be cavemen. Wondering around this world and not being able to comprehend what was around us. It’s a shame that in history that the serpent was given the title of villain, when in fact, he should be called the true savior. He helped mankind see the light while God tried to keep us in the dark. Since that first bight that Adam and Eve took oh so many ages ago, Adam and Eve saw that they were naked and were blind from a world that was right in front of them.
Since that time, we have lost our way as a society. Over the past sentries, we were taught less and less about our past and the teachings that our ancestors had carried on since then. The less that we knew, the more blind we became too who we were supposed to be. We have come to a point now where we have forgotten everything, and because of that, we are blinded once again to the world. We are Adam and Eve before they ate the apple.
I have found that apple my sheep and I have bitten into it. My eyes are opened to a world that we have forgotten about and it is beautiful. All I ask is for you to take a nibble of it. Take a bite and understand what I’ve been preaching for months now. Don’t be afraid of the unknown. Don’t be afraid to leave the life that you once lived…..walk away from the lies and the judgment. All you have to do is take one bite….and you will be free. Free to be the person that you want to be…..whom you’re afraid to be.”
~Crow pauses as he looks away from the apple and into the camera. A sinister smile crawls across his face as he places the apple on top of a nearby metal box.
Crow: “My journey to help open the eyes of the sheep here in MPW continues with you Soul Shadow. It’s funny…..with a name like that…..you’d think that you and I would be like brothers. That maybe you would understand my views and my logic. But as I look at you Soul Shadow…….I don’t see a monster or something mystical……no……all I can see is man with a normal life. Nothing special about you at all.
But you could have been like me couldn’t you? Maybe in another life or if an event had changed. You could have very been the man that you see today when your wife passed away. But you didn’t. You didn’t let the death of your wife drag you down to the deepest depths of your own personal hell like it did to you. You had something still to fight for. You had a glimmer of hope that I never had. You had a son. You had a child to look over and protect. I never got to know my son……and I can’t help but to think at times that if my child had survived……that I might had turned out differently. That I wouldn’t be the man that you see today. I might had actually lived a normal life.
I can’t help but think…….what is with the name Michael? What is with the name of Soul Shadow? Was that the name that you gave yourself back in the day? To try to be a dark character in the world of wrestling? I ask because the name doesn’t fit you any more Michael. When I look at you……I don’t feel like I should be afraid. When I look at you and see you wrestle…….I don’t feel like any true harm will overtake me. I see a man that can bleed. That can feel pain. That can feel fear and anger and sadness.
But something tells me that you want to be like myself, hence the whole Soul Shadow name. You wish to take that trip to the dark side and see how it feels. You wish to live that life…….but you won’t. Or maybe you can’t because you have one thing in this world keeping you attached to society……and that would be your son. What would your boy think if he truly saw the real you. What would your boy say if he saw the individual that you keep hidden in the subconscious of your mind? Would your boy be proud of you or would he shun you like the rest of society will if you showed your true colors.
You’ve been keeping that side of you locked up for awhile now haven’t you? Ever since your wife died. You’ve wanted that man……that personal persona of your dreams to come out and burn the world around him. But you’ve worked so hard to keep that being in the back of your mind….and now….since my words has been rolling around in your subconscious…..it’s starting to make that side of you more aggressive. You can hear it bashing on the walls of your mind. Wanting to be let out to the world. Wanting to feel blood underneath its hands and watch with pleasure as you take a life……..let it out Michael. Be the man you so want to be. Fuck what society says. Your son? We can teach him. Like father like son. Of course it’ll be hard at first to convince him of the changing of his ways……but at such a young age, it’d be easy to transform and mold his mind to what you truly want him to be.
So what do you say Michael? Are you ready to show your true colors to the world?”
~By now, Crow is only inches away from the camera and the excitement of a new family member to his growing group has taken over. Reality soon takes over as the excitement soon turns to sadness as he leans away from the camera.
Crow: “Of course you’re not Michael. Your mind is too weak to take that next step in life. You’re too afraid to be the man that you need to be to survive in this world. You refuse to open your eyes to the world that I see. You’re afraid Michael………I can see it when I look into your eyes. But…….as I look deeper into your eyes…….I can see the true you wanting to be released. You need my help. You need a lending hand to help with your transformation……and that’s why I’m here Michael. To help you make your transformation because it’s always frightful to try something new. But once you take that first step……..it gets better and it becomes easier. Just lose yourself Michael and be the man that you were meant to be. I’ll be there to help. I’ll keep you on the path that you need to be on.
But of course, you’re going to fight for your present life. And fight and fight you will but it will be in vein as I beat you into submission. I will beat the living hell out of you until you can no longer move. I will break every bone in your body and watch as you crawl around in agony as you try to get away from me. But just like every horror movie monster…..you’ll never get away from me Michael.
Just like the serpent, I’m trying to help my fellow man. I’m trying to cover them with my words and my actions and to show them that it’s ok to be who they truly want to be and stop living the lie that they now live. Unlike the serpent who gave the option to Adam and Eve for eating the apple or not, I’m going to force that apple down your throat if you like it or not Michael so that you can either accept it and eat the apple……or you can choke on it and die. I’m trying to help you Michael…..along with your son. Let me help you……because it would be such a shame to destroy you in that ring and have your child watch on. But maybe with you out of the picture……maybe I can take the young boy under my wing and show him a life that his father was too afraid to be a part of.”
~Suddenly, a child comes into the scene with a black sack over his head. Crow, with a sinful smile on his face, takes a bite of the apple as he places his arm around the boys shoulder.
Crow: “May God have mercy on your soul Michael……..because I will give you none.”
~With that, Crow bends down so that the child and himself are the same height. Crow stares into the camera, still with the sinister smile on his face as the scene fades to black.
