When the bell rang last Sunday, it still hadn't sunk in.
When my music played, it still hadn't sunk in.
When the ref handed me the title, when I left the arena, when I entered my hotel room, on the plane home the next day...
Nothing.
Even when people were walking up to me, congratulating me on winning, I was completely oblivious.
Finally, two days ago, I realized it.
I'm the MPW World Champion. I had done what I set out to do. Then, once it hit me, I danced like a little kid. I threw my arms up in victory. I played "We are the Champions" by Queen and danced around with no one in particular.
No time for losers indeed.
But, just as soon as it hit me, it quickly washed away. Now, it's set in what must be done.
Now that I carry this title, it's time to make it mean something again.
And all I have to do is look at the Reloaded main event this week to get understand what I'm in for.
I have to face Jackson Blaze in a match of champions.
Jackson, I understand totally, that, to you, I should not be the World Champion. I get it. You're upset because I beat your buddy for the world title.
But you know, that doesn't really bother me. You can say I will be a weak champion, you can say I got lucky, you can say whatever your heart desires. If it makes you feel better, go for it.
It still doesn't change this big gold belt being on my shoulder.
[ Roxi sits down on the couch, which now has a lot of empty space. ]
Roxi - Vision, This is really weird.
Vision - I know.
Roxi - So, where did she go?
Vision - Top secret assignment. She got handpicked.
Roxi - I can't believe she's gone.
Vision - It's hard, but, I think she liked being here.
Roxi - I hope so.
Vision - You two were a great a team.
Roxi - So, what happens now?
Vision - What do you mean?
Roxi - Do I get another partner? Is Emi my partner now?
Vision - I don't think so.
Roxi - So, I'm on my own again?
Vision - I guess.
Roxi - Wow...this is weird.
Vision - Why?
Roxi - I don't know what to do with myself now. There's no one to have witty banter with.
Vision - I'm always here.
Roxi - You aren't fun.
Vision - I was here before Sydney.
Roxi - My point still stands...
So, it would appear the second monster has risen from the depths. The other unstoppable force. The other inhuman monster. The other dragon that cannot be slayed.
Bigger and better men have tried Jackson.
I'm not the biggest person here, nor the strongest. I'm not even the smartest. It's always been said I have more guts than brains anyway. But I'm also not the dumbest. I see a big bad monster like you, and I can't help but smirk and chuckle to myself. Because I'm not afraid of you. Fear is something I don't know. Again, that may not be the smartest thing, nor the healthiest. In fact you may just beat me to a pulp Sunday Night.
But I'm not afraid of that.
Because I have no reason to. I was never one to back down from a fight. I take on all comers. Big, small, short, fat, tall, skinny. Doesn't matter. You want some of this, I'm not going anywhere. I stand and fight. Always.
And that was before I ever held a title here.
It's only fitting that now you are standing across from the ring from me again. It's fitting that once again, another giant that destroys everyone in his path comes into mine. That's when little ol' Roxi Johnson from Tampa comes from out of nowhere and stops him. I took down big guys before, I took down the man who had gone through everybody here to win the World title. I was supposed to be a speed bump in his path.
He was tougher than you, Jackson.
He hit harder than you do.
he was BETTER than you.
But, I'm sure Trey's got you ready Zero. I'm sure he wants you to take me out again, like you did before I'm sure he's been coaching you up.
You obviously care about this title. Trey may care more, but you certainly care. This big gold belt appeals to you. You only know destruction. Pain. Hurt. Torture. You are a machine.
Or so you think, anyway.
The fact is, you're a man. Flesh and blood. You can be hurt, you can be stopped. And guess what? I'm playing the part of road block Sunday. You will find that out first hand Jackson. You just bring yourself down to the ring, and I'll be waiting. I'll be ready. I'll be standing across from you, unafraid, and unimpressed. And you may put me down, but you won't keep me down.
Because as this point, I can't be stopped. I'm on the roll. You are the underdog. Yeah, you're the guy who needs to show up. You need to prove that all the hype means something.
I can't stop now Jackson. I'm having too much fun holding what I've worked my entire career to have. And now that I've got it, it would be something is you finally did what you've been hoping to do for a long time, beat a world champion? Well, you want it, come and get it.
[ Roxi now in full costume ends up standing on a rooftop, looking down at the city.]
Roxi - It looks so peaceful.
Vision - It can be.
Roxi - But there just so much work to do, and now, I don't have a partner...
Vision - I think you're ready to go solo again.
Roxi - You think?
Vision - Yes. You know you've done it before, and I know you can do it again.
Roxi - I guess.
Vision - Besides, you have another group to lead.
Roxi - I guess.
Vision - You are.
Roxi - I didn't think I was the leader.
Vision - They look up to you.
Roxi - I guess you're right.
Vision - You have an obligation to them, and the rest of the world, you have to be that symbol...
Roxi - Thanks, Vision.
Vision - Now, let's go to work.
Roxi - You got it.
I bet this really bothers you, doesn't it Jackson?
Seeing me, the woman who you will swear from now until forever that you're better than...is the World Champion.
And honestly, I think it's funny because in reality...
It's all your fault.
You have no one to blame but yourself for this Jackson. No one else. It was you, who got a victory, it was you, who put me out of MPW for a short time. You are the sole reason I went to High Stakes and beat Trey Baxter.
So for that, I thank you.
But enough about that, let's talk about this Sunday. Let's talk about this match that you and I are in. The guy who is nothing but a lapdog for a group that just lost it's biggest gun. And let's call a spade a spade Jackson: You're not even good enough to be in Iconic Aggression. You're just a henchman. A pawn, a sacrificial lamb they toss out to seem more in control then they really are.
I'm not going to sit here and say something that isn't true, because I don't have even the slightest bit of respect for you. I dislike you Jackson. Not because you're good, but because you THINK you're better than you are. You THINK you're intelligent, and witty, and for some reason, you think you have a mean streak. And for all that, what do you have to show for it? A bunch of forgettable title reigns, hollow victories where you've come from the shadows,
Gotta say, color me unimpressed Jackson.
The truth is no one is threatened by you Jackson. No one. You could walk away, AGAIN, tomorrow, and nobody would bat an eyelash. That too, is your fault.
But, I know what you're thinking: It's easy to hide behind the world title, right? I said before I've moved on, you were in my rear view mirror. And now? you're even further behind. Almost out of sight. But, if you wish to continue to tell the world you're better than me, go ahead, because nobody's listening. You can waste your breath all night long if you wish. It only serves to prove my point:
No one cares, no one takes you seriously.
You have flashed some signs of life, but really, it just makes people go "remember when Jackson Blaze was good?" And then the other person is quick to respond "No." And then there's some laughing.
You win small battles Jackson and then claim the war. It's what you do. You beat Nytrus, and look out, Jackson Blaze is Back! ...
That's always been your problem, an inflated ego based on the smallest amount of ground gained.
I guess you have to take success whenever and whereever you can get it.
But you know what Jackson? I'm still pretty glad you are. Now, you get to see just exactly how far out of your league you really are.
When my music played, it still hadn't sunk in.
When the ref handed me the title, when I left the arena, when I entered my hotel room, on the plane home the next day...
