The persuasion was far more difficult than last week. Securing his spot at the upcoming Roll of the Dice match, the already cocky John Fisherman was now more confident than ever. He felt like he was unstoppable. It took some effort for Ms. Jasmine Biguns to finally persuade him to resume his training regime. But at last, training resumed as scheduled. At an unnamed gym in downtown Las Vegas, John was locked in battle mode during practice with his sparring partner, simply known as Chicken.
"Come on Chicken, you're not even trying!"
The training ring was absolutely dominated by John Fisherman, who was in tip top form for his upcoming match. Unfortunately the same could not be said about poor Chicken. A scrawny hundred and thirty pound wimp, Chicken was always pushed around by his so-called friend, John Fisherman. He has spent many years training with John, but never gained an opportunity to compete in the ring. He was John's personal punching bag, taking chop after chop, kick after kick, suplex after suplex, all as practice for the more successful John Fisherman.
"John...oww...how about we take five?"
"Again? Come on, we just started!"
John had the bruised Chicken tight in a Cobra Clutch. He was about to pass out before being whipped into the ropes, rebounding straight into a Powerslam. Chicken's spine was practically numb, his ears were ringing and he could barely breathe. Before he could get back up to his feet however, John had already bounced off the ropes, and charged in with a knee to the side of his head, sending him curling back onto the canvas in agony. Although it was feint, he could hear the cocky John Fisherman signaling for his signature move. Almost on instinct alone, Chicken slowly climbed back onto his feet before turning around to take a kick to the gut. As he bent down, clutching at his stomach, John wrapped his arm around his head, flung his arm around his neck and tightly grabbed his leg. He then launched his sparring partner overhead and onto the mat, hard, as bridged into a pinfall. John counted to three himself, too slowly for Chicken's liking, before finally releasing. Chicken simply collapsed on the mat, almost unable to move. John did not struggle to get back onto his feet, and upon doing so, he looked down at his broken sparring partner with a smirk.
"Better luck next time Chicken."
Chicken has always been treated like a piece of shit by John Fisherman, ever since the two met. How Chicken still considers him a friend has remained a mystery to most, but as far as Chicken was concerned, there was only one reason left for him to stay close to him.
"Well done Johnny, you nailed him that time!"
The sound of her voice made him muster enough strength to tilt his head and gaze at the only reason why he continued as John Fisherman's punching bag. Ms. Jasmine Biguns. The beloved manager of John Fisherman, and to him, the most beautiful woman to have ever lived. As badly as John would hurt him in the middle of the training ring, whenever he would catch a glimpse of Ms. Biguns, everything didn't seem so bad.
"I did, didn't I? That TV title is coming home on Monday!"
As John jumped out of the ring, Chicken finally began to move. He crawled onto his stomach and tried, with what strength he had left, to pull himself back onto his feet. Just seeing Ms. Biguns was enough motivation to make him do things that he wouldn't normally do. Dripping with sweat and battered all over, he made it to his feet, but by the time he could address his muse, her back was already turned on him. She was too busy preparing her man to even acknowledge the man that he had just laid out in the ring. This has been the routine since John and Jasmine met. Why Chicken remained as John's sparring partner for all this time? Because just standing next to a man as confident as John Fisherman made him feel a little more confident in himself, even if he was being treated like crap. This was no longer the case however, these days all Chicken really cared about was the woman who he considered to be the girl of his dreams. That was now the only reason why he would stay with him. But why would John allow a wimp like Chicken to stay with him for all this time? Simple. John has always enjoyed having his own personal punching bag.
"One day, my love. One day..."
Poor Chicken. Still, this story isn't about him.
Quite frankly, John Fisherman could care less about him. He's more concerned about his upcoming opportunity at the Television Championship. Well, maybe not concerned, more like anxious. He wants the title belt around his waist right now.
"I gotta tell you Jasmine, this is gonna be a cake walk."
As John wipes his towel over his face to dry the sweat off, Ms. Biguns did not appear as enthusiastic.
"Please John, I wish you'd take this seriously."
John removes the towel from his face, this time leaving a sudden change of expression upon his face.
"Oh yeah, I've been meaning to ask you something. Last week I earned my spot in the Roll of the Dice match right?"
"Right..."
"And I'm practically about to win the Television title, right?"
"Right..."
"Well, I was looking up the rules of the Roll of the Dice match the other night. Apparently, any champion involved must relinquish their belt upon entering. Does that mean that I'd have to give up the TV title?"
"Let's not worry about that yet. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Right now, I want you focused. Don't let things like that get in the way. You already had me worried when Tim Bowers mentioned Rage to you."
"Yeah I know. I was just curious."
"Well, don't be. The last thing we want is for everyone to think that you're scared of Rage."
"I'm not scared of him!!"
An awkward silence followed.
"Of course you're not. Anyway, less chat, more practice. Come on, we're wasting time here."
*sighs* "Fine."
After drenching himself with a cool, refreshing bottle of water, John returns to the training ring. At ringside, Chicken is exhausted and out of breath.
"Come on Chicken, we haven't got all day."
Chicken simply sighs in agony.
Several hours had passed, and after supervising yet another strict training regime for her man, it was finally time for Ms. Jasmine Biguns to have some well deserved time for herself. However, unlike any other night, she had some things to get off her chest. So, after brushing the dust off her web cam, she decided to upload her own video blog for the MPW fans to watch on her rarely used Youtube channel.
The video opens with Ms. Biguns sitting at her computer desk, wearing an old gray tanktop (which revealed a lot more cleavage than she intended to) as well as a pair of navy pajama bottoms. Despite her bed hair, she also wore a pair of glasses, as she normally would. This was an awfully casual attire for a woman as mysterious as Ms. Biguns, but from the number of likes that her video had received, that didn't seem like a bad thing.
"Hi everyone, Jasmine Biguns here. For those who don't know me, I'm currently working for a wrestling company called Millenium Pro Wrestling, or MPW for short, as the manager of the soon to be Television champion, John Fisherman. Now I know I don't normally post these videos, but I just had to get a few things off my chest."
That comment was the main reason why the video had so many likes, although Ms. Biguns might disagree.
"Firstly, I'm just so proud of my man's work since joining MPW. There's a reason why I signed him as my first client here, and that's because he has something special, something that no one in the roster has. He has talent, he has charisma, he has strength, he has speed, he has skill, he has confidence, he's just an all around awesome guy, and I'm certain that he will make a name for himself in this company. But for the doubters out there, those who still think of him as a newbie. Believe me, he's no rookie. He has held multiple titles in his time, even a Heavyweight title. And as for me, I've led wrestlers to championship reigns. I've been rather successful in my career as a manager, and I have faith that I will continue this fortune in MPW. Heck, it's already started. My man has already been entered into the Roll of the Dice match at the show's first pay-per-view, and he even has the opportunity to become the company's first Television champion this Monday!"
"But that's not what I wanted to talk about tonight. No, I want to address the other five participants who hope to steal the championship from my man. Most of you have already spoken about the upcoming match. In particular, Jason Xavier."
The video then switches to footage from Jason Xavier's earlier promo, taking a few specific quotes, and has been edited by Ms. Biguns to cut back to her.
"Next we have John Fisherman, well John congratulations are in order you beat me last week, you entered MPW with pretty much the same name as someone else in this match Justin Fischer. Was that your strategy all along? Confusing people over the names. Smart I guess you haven't actually got the talent to back up in the ring that is the only reason you beat me through confusion."
"Jason love, just face it. You lost. All I hear from you are the ramblings of a loser. I just simply cannot stand a sore loser, and you Jason are the biggest loser of them all! You lost Jason, and I promise you that you will lose again."
"You see John you don't belong in the same ring with someone as me let alone given an opportunity like this."
"Excuse me? Again, the ramblings of a loser. As far as I'm concerned, you haven't earned anything yet. Quite frankly, you don't deserve to be in this title match. Trust me, when my man is through with you, you will wish that you were never even involved! But you know, you're not the only loser involved in this match. Guess who else did a promo?"
Similar to the editing of the Jason X promo, the video now displays edited footage of Justin Fischer's previous promo.
"Jason X.... what the hell is with the X? is it because you think your Xtreme....you do know that it's spelt with an E right...."
"Darling, can't you come up with anything original? You're basically ripping off my man here. And you have the nerve to say that John envies you? Give me a break, when I look at you, all I see is a complete rip-off of John Fisherman."
The video then cuts to Justin's next promo.
"Let me enlighten you a little. You may have had more matches than me but isn't it funny how I'm still in this match.....Ummm forgive me but doesn't that mean that I'm just a little more higher caliber than you. I mean I fight two matches and boom I'm in the title match and you barely made the cut...."
"And you think that John's promos are laughable? You've been involved in two matches, so has John. In just two matches, my man has already earned two opportunities. Heck, from what I heard, it was John who replaced you in the Roll of the Dice qualifying matches. Probably not true, but I'm willing to believe it. After all, you've been jealous of him since he came here. Right now, my man is on popular demand, the MPW bookers seem to prefer my man to you. You're no different to Jason X, you're just another wannabe. So why don't you go home? Now who else is there?"
"I would have beaten that flake Fisherman too, had his little pussy manager not miraculously healed herself and gotten involved...but what's good for the goose is good for the gander, right John?"
"Well, well, if it isn't the fantastically boring Freddie Styles. As you might have heard from my man, he's going to finish what he started on his debut, and that is to humiliate you in the ring. You don't have your little boy toy Newman protecting you this time. I assure you that he will make you regret ever calling me that. Now mothers, lock up your daughters, because it's Taufik's turn to shine!"
The video now cuts to the Wrestling Unleashed podcast featuring Taufik.
"In my opinion, other than the MPW World Champ, any other champion who is involved in this should give up their title in the chance of getting a contract that guaranteed you any title match anytime you want. If John Fisherman somehow wins this match, he has a difficult choice to make."
"Thanks for pointing out the obvious, genius. Me and my man are fully aware of this scenario. When my man wins the TV title, in order to compete in the Roll of the Dice match, he must relinquish the title, otherwise there'll be one more vacated slot in the match. Roll of the Dice couldn't be more appropriate. But as I told him earlier, we'll cross that bridge when we reach it, but right now, our concern is winning the TV title, and quite frankly Taufik, it should be your concern too."
...
"Wait a minute, isn't there another competitor in this match?"
...
"I'm sure there is. Six competitors, my man John, Jason, Justin, Taufik, Freddie...who am I missing?"
...
"Oh well, must have slipped my mind. Never mind. Anyway, I hope I haven't bored you all for too long, but how appropriate is it that my man, John Fisherman, is about to be crowned the first MPW Television Champion on the first MPW Super Show? After all, a super show needs a superstar, and to be honest, none of these other losers can make the cut. Without my man, it'll just be another regular show, am I right? Well, glad I have all that off my chest. I'll be sure to have my man resume his training in the morning, and in just a few days, we will both be leaving the show with the TV title in hand. Hope you all get to tune in and watch this historical event unfold this Monday. This has been Jasmine Biguns. Goodnight everyone, and much love!"
After blowing a kiss to the camera, the video ends. Plenty of likes, just a handful of dislikes, and a lot of inappropriate comments. Either way, the point has been made. Ms. Biguns was just as confident as John Fisherman. Will John Fisherman be able to leave the Super Show with the Television title? Guess we'll have to find out this Monday.
"Come on Chicken, you're not even trying!"
