I’m not so sure what to make about the events of a couple of nights ago. Getting the victory was a great thing, but the night of course, was ruined by Christian Carter. What in tIhe world am I supposed to do now? I can come back, fight, do what I do. But, I’ve done some thinking in the last 48 hours. Perhaps I’m being too nice. I’m just being realistic here. I’m always finding myself in a pitiful situation where I just feel sorry for myself for the stupidest of reasons. I keep warning Christian Carter about this or that, but either I don’t follow through, or he commits actions toward me similar to what he did to me last week. I need to start seeing the real picture of everything, and not just the ‘fantasy world’ that I’m living in. The problem is, I don’t even know where to begin with that…..
November 19, 2013: two days after Reloaded.
It’s a cold night in Philadelphia. Valentina Madison has stayed back for now but she’s scheduled to head to Columbus tomorrow afternoon. She’s still in a state of bewilderment. Despite her successes in her early career, she has this weight on her shoulders. It’s as if she feels that there’s something inside of her that’s missing. She just can’t come to grips on what it could possibly be. She heads inside of a store, having left her purse inside of her rental car. She buys a tea rather quickly and walks out. As she’s about to step into her car, she notices that there’s a mysterious envelope in her purse. She opens the door, takes her purse out, and takes out the envelope. She quickly puts her purse inside the car and shuts the door.
Valentina Madison: What in the world? I don’t remember having this….
She turns the envelope over and she sees that it has her name on it. She’s bewildered by this, but she goes with it and opens the envelope. There’s a nicely decorated postcard inside of it, with the font in a classy type text. It reads….
Valentina Madison: I’ve heard about you. I want to speak to you. I’m across the street at the abandoned bingo hall where hardcore wrestling became famous. You need to wake up! How? Cross the street, head inside that bingo hall, and I will tell you everything that you desperately need to know.
She becomes even more confused.
Valentina Madison: Is this a joke?
She continues to be in her confused state, but her curiosity and her naivety get the better of her and she checks for cars before she ultimately crosses the street. She’s right there at that famous bingo hall. It looks abandoned and she looks a bit timid about going in. Nonetheless, she does so and she walks through the lobby, and into the main section of the building itself. She hears a female voice through the PA system.
Voice: I’m so glad you can make it Valentina….
Valentina Madison: Who are you and what do you want with me?
Voice: I want to turn you into the superstar that you are destined to be.
Valentina Madison: What are you talking about?
Voice: I’ve been watching you. You’ve done some great things in the infancy of your career, but you can’t be at the level you are at forever. You need to step your game up rookie! Because as someone that has worked with some of the top women in the wrestling industry, it sickens me that someone so talented could be so STUPID!
Valentina Madison: I can do without the insults! Who are you? Why won’t you show yourself?
Voice: Because rookie, you’re not worthy of me being in your presence. Now silence! You’re a good student right? You’re so smart, at least, in general. But wrestling smart? Rookie, you’re not even close! But, I can tell you how you can be wrestling smart. Let me ask you a question rookie, you’re sick and tired of Christian Carter getting the better of you right?
Valentina Madison: Right….
Voice: You’re tired of being treated like a pushover aren’t you?
Valentina Madison: Admittedly, I’m starting to tire of being made to look like an absolute fool….
Voice: And what have you done about it? I’ll tell you what you’ve done about it. You’ve continued to live in your little fairy tale world and you’ve continued to hide in your corner and feel sorry for yourself when something doesn’t go right. You know what your problem is, rookie? You worry far too much about what other people think about you. After all, can you explain to me how Christian Carter getting drunk right before your match was disrespectful toward you? Because it WASN’T! He made the choice because he’s a damn idiot, not because he wanted to hurt you!
Valentina Madison: I never thought of it that way before…..
Voice: That’s because you lock yourself in Cinderella land and do nothing but sing with the bluebirds and talk to the bunny rabbits. Not literally of course, but you know the figure of speech I am making. My point is rookie, you’re too damn nice! You’re too damn humble and you’re allowing other people to take advantage of you and make you out to be a fool! It’s the same damn circle, week, after week, after week. You allowed yourself to tow the “company line” and choose a side between the Iconic Aggression and the Resistance. You’re better than that! You know the IA, but let me ask you something. Do you really think the Resistance gives a damn about you?
Valentina Madison: With all due respect to you, I think you’re being ridiculous.
Voice: Okay, THAT RIGHT THERE, cut that out! No more of this “respect” crap. You’re opening the door for people to take advantage of you. But think about your match with Laila, when the Resistance came out to ‘help you’. They did it for themselves rookie, you could have been anyone else and they would have done the same thing. They only came out to put some fists into some IA faces! They don’t care about you! And Phoenix Rising, think about them for a second. You say you respect them, but they don’t respect you.
Valentina Madison: Stop! I’m not going to listen to this.
Voice: If they really respected you, they wouldn’t have grouped you with Carter and dropped the “idiot” label on you when you were challenging for the tag team championships. They don’t give a damn about you! Hell, that’s the nature of wrestling, rookie. NOBODY gives a damn about you!
Valentina Madison: And you do?
Voice: Rookie, I’m not going to let talent like you go to waste. I’ve worked with some big time women in wrestling, and my most famous client just signed with WWO. Sadly, she’s turned into an “angel”, YUCK. But you? You’re raw! You’re new! It’s not too late for you. You need to be aggressive. You need to stop being respectful! You need to stop people from taking advantage of you. Follow my lead, learn from me, and I guarantee you’ll be a star in no time!
Valentina thinks about it. Of course, her naivety is about to shine again, because despite the fact that she doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into….
Valentina Madison: Okay…. I’ll give it a try. I’m so tired of Christian Carter getting the better of me! I’m sick and tired of being a pushover!
Voice: Good! I’ll talk to you in Columbus, sometime….
The PA system shuts off, as indicated by the noise and the click.
Valentina Madison: I’m not going to succeed the way I am, I need to be stronger, smarter and better. I don’t know who this woman is, but she knows what she’s doing….
Valentina however, doesn’t know exactly what she’s getting herself into.
November 24, an hour before Reloaded.
Valentina is standing in a parking lot that’s just by the Nationwide Arena. She appears to be more confident than ever, which is odd because of what she went through last week. She doesn’t appear to be bothered by it at all, as she’s about to speak her mind.
Valentina Madison: Here I am Aeryn, one of many parking lots where we might be having our match. I know you’re ready for this, and so am I. I have proven that I am ready for something like this, after all, it was me that beat you with your own move. Some people say that it was a cheap move, I say it was me being crafty. I am happy that I won, and after thinking over some things over the last few days, I am done with other people and events weighing me down. I’m through being timid. I’m through being seen as the “naïve rookie”. Maybe I am a rookie, but I have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am much more than just that. I’ve taken some of the most notorious people in this company to the limit Aeryn, even you and if you think that you’re going to beat me tonight when you couldn’t even do so last week when I was in that naïve mode, then I think you’re starting to lose your focus and your touch. You hadn’t had a singles match in forever before last week, and that rust showed! I know you’re not rusty this time, and I’m glad for that, because that means that you won’t have any excuses when I beat you again, not that you ever made any. I know you’re one of the last people in this company that make excuses.
I’ve been doing so much thinking about me and where I am going. I should have realized that the path I was going, was only going to lead me toward a path of being mediocre and I have my own high expectations of myself. I expected to beat Impaler, and I did. I expected to beat you, and I did and truth be told Aeryn, I’ve done some studying about this business from a perspective I never had realized was around. That perspective has enriched me with teachings that have made me a stronger person and I expect that this perspective will lead me to better things. I’m through with people like Christian getting the better of me, because truth be told, it’s just plain embarrassing and I am not going to embarrass myself anymore by expecting that things around me are automatically going to get better, because I know for a fact now Aeryn, that the only way things for me are going to get better is if I take the initiative and make them better myself. I don’t want to be spoon fed anything! I don’t want to be catered to! I don’t want people feeling sorry for me anymore because that’s not the way to get by in this word, and I hope you know that.
I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful when I said that you were leaning on Soul Shadow and I’ll apologize for it coming across that way, but I will NOT take back what I said because there were some times during our match when I could have sworn that you were looking at the corner or at the ramp praying that your knight in shining armor would come down and save you, just like he always had. It must be really nice to have a man in your corner like that. But me? I don’t need that. I am my own knight in shining armor and that is, honestly, what makes me stronger than you. I’ve gotten by just fine without anyone or anything. Let me ask you something Aeryn, would you have won that ladder match at High Stakes if Soul Shadow wasn’t so kind? If he was a selfish person, he would have taken you out before you ever had a chance to win that match. Had he not been so kind, I really don’t know if you would have won that match or not. Would you have beaten Trey Baxter or Jackson Blaze if he wasn’t around? Here’s some logic and cold hard facts. You couldn’t beat me, the ROOKIE, without him being around. Going by that logic, if you took on Trey or Jackson one on one, as much as I revile those two and the Iconic Aggression, you wouldn’t have what it takes to beat those guys one on one. But knowing what I know now Aeryn, I know that I DO!
You admit that you want me to go above and beyond what you’ve done, and thank you because I know that one day I will because whether you want to admit it or not, I truly am smarter and I truly am stronger than you! You’re a great wrestler, a hell of a person, but you truly have a weak, internal, emotional disposition! You’re too vulnerable to ever really be at Roxi Johnson’s level. I know that you don’t rest on your laurels and I’m glad you don’t. I’m glad that you aren’t women that have embarrassed and disgraced this company like Angel Kash, women that came in, expecting everything to be handed to them, only to be extremely disappointing, two-bit flameouts! You can try to be the best that you can be, but truth be told, you’re already the best that you can be, and sadly for you, that’s not good enough to be at that main event level. But me? I’m not going to settle for being the best that I can be! I’m done taking that crap! I’m done being taken advantage of! I’m not going to stop until I am the valedictorian of the professional wrestling world! I aim higher than you do Aeryn, and with all due respect, that’s what makes me, in the long term, better than you!
Aeryn, I’m sorry that you have to be the first person in MPW to truly know what I can be when I’m not being sidetracked by the smoke and mirrors that used to blind me. But it’s something that I have to do, and that I will do! Let the second hunt for your soul be a success! I wish you luck, because in an environment like this, you’ll need it if you want to prove me wrong!
