Last week was good. A good feeling to know that I have completely lost it yet. Beating Kurt Newman and Christian Carter restored a lot of what confidence was shaken over the past couple of weeks. I'll admit it was a rough couple of weeks, but last weeks cage match was a good way to start December after a less than stellar November. But, I guess I can take the fact that I am still the MPW World Champion out of all of that mess of last month. But it is time to start fresh, and finish the year strong. And start 2014 on a positive note rather than a negative one.
This week, it's Valentina Madison. I never asked for it to be easy, and it sure isn't this week. Valentina is a very good up and coming wrestler in MPW, and although she may be a rookie here, she certainly does not act like one out in the ring. She's taken down quite a few of MPW's guys right from the get-go. I've watched as she has held her own, and in some cases, more than held her own against top competition. Kind of reminds me of me.
No, I don't make it to patronize Valentina or to toot my own horn, but I make that comparison because it's true. When I first arrived in MPW, I was taking down those who had been established, and those who were just making their way into MPW too. I swam with the sharks, while most sank. Valentina has done the same. Our careers have been extremely similar. The only exception is, I won titles along the way. But I can easily see that in Valentina's future before too long.
No Valentina, this isn't me blowing smoke or sunshine. I don't throw praise lightly. I do tend to try to help everyone, that's just in my nature, and I am a nice person, but I don't just hand people my endorsement. I am fully aware that you possess skills in the ring and you are very, very good. In fact, I'll go a far as to say you might just be the most talented wrestler in MPW who isn't a champion.
This is one of the prime reasons I'm excited for this match. Because you are a great test, and a great challenge to me, to see just how good you are. From watching you and the way you carry yourself and how you've handled yourself thus far, I knew that the time that we were going to wrestle would be a special one. I knew that you could be a very tough challenge and that's what I expect from you. Nothing less.
But as good as you are Valentina, I am the MPW Champion for a reason. That reason being is that I have been tested, time and time again by the best in MPW, the best in the world, and still, titles around around my waist and over my shoulder constantly. I have fought and defeated all who have stepped into the ring with me at one time or another. I have proven to the entire wrestling world that no title, no victory is unattainable. I have led MPW out of the shadows into being what it is today.
That is not trash talk, it's not cockiness, it's fact.
I'm heading into this match expecting a tough fight, and I sincerely hope that you are too. I know that one day, you will be exactly where I am. One day, you will be a prime time player for MPW before it's all said and done. And one day, you may rise to become one of the top wrestlers, not just female wrestlers, but wrestlers period, in this company.
Sunday, will NOT be that day. Sunday, I will beat you, I know it will be tough, it will be difficult, but it's a test and a challenge I will rise to meet.
Because that's what I do. It's who I am. And I am the MPW World Champion.
[ Roxi sits in her apartment, with Paula sitting next to her, as Vision looks on from the computer. ]
Roxi - Okay kiddo, we've got to handle some business first.
Paula - Okay...
Roxi - Alright, smile for the camera.
[ Roxi snaps a phot with her phone of Paula. ]
Paula - What's that for?
Roxi - Just to help me out with some stuff. Now go wash up, The pizza will be here soon.
Paula - Okay.
[ As Paula leaves, Roxi connects her cell phone to the computer and uploads the picture to Vision. ]
Roxi - We need to get some kind of I.D. on her.
Vision - I'll do my best.
Roxi - Thanks.
Vision - What about you?
Roxi - I'll be fine.
Vision - But you do know you can't take care of her forever.
Roxi - I wasn't planning on it.
Vision - Rox, I mean, you cannot keep her here.
Roxi - What am I supposed to do?
Vision - You have to give her up to the proper authorities.
Roxi - Not until I stop whoever is hunting her.
Vision - How do you plan to do that?
Roxi - Getting an I.D. on that photo is a start.
Vision - I'm looking. I'll get back to you on that, in the meantime, You've got to get back out there.
Roxi - I know, But I can't just leave her here alone.
Vision - You could just take her to the orphanage.
Roxi - I promised to help her, and I can't do that to her.
Vision - *Sigh* Fine. But you need to look into this.
[ Roxi looks at the file in front of her. ]
Roxi - Computer technology stolen by metal man?
Vision - Reports say he was a man who looked to be made of metal.
Roxi - I get all the fun stuff.
Vision - That tech is a high value piece of equipment. The O'Haire company stands to lose billions.
Roxi - Anything else on this Metal guy?
Vision - Just vague police reports.
Roxi - Lovely. I'll get to it later tonight.
Vision - Yeah, I'll let you know if anything comes up with Paula.
Roxi - It's times like this I miss Zelda.
Vision - I do too.
[Later that night, Roxi sweeps the O'Haire building for clues, and seemingly finds nothing. She reviews the video footage and sees the metal man walk through the building and take down a steel door with his bare hands. After shutting the tape off, she goes back and finds a small metal fragment lodged in the door.
Roxi - Vision, I think I may have a lead.
Vision - Good. But you might want to get out of there before your seen. I don't think they'll take too kindly to another intruder.
Roxi - But I'm the good kind of intruder.
Vision - I don't think they will see it that way.
Roxi - Meh. How's Paula?
Vision - Sleeping like a baby. Oh, she's getting up to go to the bathroom, you might want to hurry back.
Roxi - On the way. Any luck finding out about her family?
Vision - Nothing so far. I'm searching several child databases all over the world, and nothing has come up. It doesn't make sense.
Roxi - That is weird.
Vision - You'd better hurry, I don't think that dummy is going to fool her much longer.
Roxi - Right.
[ Roxi quietly exits the O'Haire building through the window and sets off back home. ]
