I’ve asked myself this question quite often over the last month: when is enough, enough? As it turns out, I’ve gotten my answer. After the events of what went down in Nashville, enough truly is enough. I’m not upset about losing to Roxi Johnson. After all, there’s no shame in losing to the MPW World Champion, especially when you were able to hang with her for over twenty minutes. But the events of after the match are what anger me. That mysterious woman is right, I AM a pushover. Once again, someone attacks me. Once again, other people came out for the save, but not for me, but for Roxi. Oh sure, the precious world champion and leader of the Resistance was saved, but what about me? Once more, I’ve been proven correct in what I’m saying, and I’ve had enough!
The Day Before Reloaded, December 21
Valentina Madison finds herself in a classroom in New Orleans. She’s been doing plenty of thinking and coming to plenty of realizations over the last few days and she’s writing some things down on a whiteboard. She’s very confident in what she’s doing, because she knows she’s about to make a very strong point that she knows that nobody can ignore. She finishes up her work on the whiteboard and she begins to express her feelings.
Valentina Madison: What you see on this whiteboard might look like a bunch of numbers, a few X’s and a few O’s because that’s what it is to the human eye. But, if you look a little closer, you’ll see it for what it really is. Each number, from one to ten, represents every week I’ve been a part of MPW. Since I’ve been here for 10 weeks, obviously, it goes up to 10. You folks got all that?
Valentina remains very stern as she continues on.
Valentina Madison: As you can see, there’s a bunch of X’s and O’s up here too. Every O is for a week where I got through my match without incident and every X represents every time either I was attacked by someone, or was taken advantage of by someone. It doesn’t look so bad in the first half does it? After all, my first week, I was taking on a couple of nobodies in Hellbender and Nathan James, a match that I WON, of course and of course, since that match wasn’t exactly regarded so much, nobody attacked me. So far, so good! Week two, I take on Christian Carter. No, I wasn’t attacked, but there’s still an “X” because Christian Carter took advantage of my inexperience and my rookie status by not taking me seriously to the point that he got drunk before our match. And so, the string of…and pardon my unacceptable language….bullshit, begins. Week 3, I took on Laila and then I get attacked by her band of castoffs, the Iconic Aggression, only to be “saved” by the Resistance.
Valentina has a laugh.
Valentina Madison: Reality check, the Resistance didn’t save me, they just wanted some of the I.A. Moving forward, week four: that’s when Christian and I took on Laila and Chrissy Starr. No incidents, so we move on. Week five was my big win over Impaler, no incidents, though that’s when Christian Carter made an open challenge for anyone to team up with him for a tag team title shot. Me, being a naïve person looking for an opportunity, took it. Week six, tag team title match. I HAD Phoenix Rising BEAT! I should be presenting this right now as an MPW Tag Team Champion, but Christian Carter broke up the pin I had and as a result, he got pinned himself, and we lost. Again, an “X”, because again, taken advantage of. Week seven, Christian Carter attacks me on the stage. Week 8, the dumpster incident where someone crashed a truck into a dumpster Aeryn and I were in. Week 9, attacked again when I tried to make an impact. “Saved again”, by the Resistance. And finally, last week, ONCE AGAIN, ATTACKED! ONCE AGAIN, people coming for the “save”. ONCE AGAIN, I’m an afterthought.
Valentina quickly grabs an eraser and erases the whiteboard. She’s starting to be both angry and upset at the same time.
Valentina Madison: Are you people aware of this pattern? If not, you really need to educate yourselves. For those that are keeping score, that’s SEVEN X’s, and three O’s. In other words in seven of the ten weeks that I’ve been in MPW, either someone takes advantage of me, somehow, OR, someone decides they want to attack me and I’m about to express how I truly feel about that.
Valentina picks up a marker, spinning it in her fingers, almost as if she’s about to explode. A look of anger comes on her face as she expresses her feelings.
Valentina Madison: I am SICK OF IT! I am absolutely SICK of being attacked or being taken advantage of each and every single week! I am SICK of people overlooking me as just some insignificant rookie! I am SICK of being disrespected! I am SICK of being passed on for things I REALLY deserved, like that 4th spot on the Resistance, and I am SICK of every single person that thinks that it’s all okay, because I got news for everyone, whether you’re the Resistance, whether you’re Chris Cable, whether you’re Jason X, it doesn’t matter, I am SICK of being the punching bag around here and that’s going to change because whether anyone wants to admit it or not, no “rookie” in MPW has made more of an impact this year than myself and that’s a fact you uneducated, moronic, egotistical ignoramuses!
Valentina then gets back to the whiteboard and writes some more stuff on it. She steps aside and it reveals a list of names:
- Valentina Madison
- Hellbender
- Nathan James
- Cam Stone
- Mackey Boyd
- Zero
Valentina Madison: Look at this list! Look at it people! This is a list of people that came to this company around the same time that I did, a “rookie class” so to speak. FOUR of the five are GONE from this company and the other one is Nathan James, someone that will never, EVER amount to anything and there’s me, having beaten Aeryn Ashfield, the same woman that has a free title shot for a year, having taken the likes of Roxi Johnson to the limit, having competed in a couple of main events and almost singlehandedly defeating Phoenix Rising to become a tag team champion. I have accomplished more than those other pathetic names COMBINED and I believe I deserve so much more respect than what I’m getting right now.
Valentina crosses off all the names but her own. She takes a deep breath, clearly heated.
Valentina Madison: So all of you, educate yourselves, for the love of society, because Valentina Madison is done being “everybody’s fool” and if nobody likes it, sorry, but this wildcat is never going to be mild again! Put that in your notebooks and study it, study it hard!
Valentina goes on a minor temper tantrum, pushing over the whiteboard and knocking over some desks and chairs as she leaves the classroom. Clearly, she’s had enough of being the pushover of MPW and now, she really wants to do something about it.
The Next Day, Show Day!
Valentina is sitting down on a chair in her hotel room a few hours before Reloaded is scheduled to begin. She’s reading a dictionary and a small smirk comes across her face.
Valentina Madison: “Sympathy”, feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else's misfortune.
Valentina laughs as she closes the dictionary and speaks out.
Valentina Madison: Soul Shadow, having studied you for so long, that’s a word that I can use to describe you, “sympathy”. You want to know why? Open up your notebook and write this down, write it down twice if you must. Because Soul Shadow, that is what you do to get people to believe that you’re a great person, that you are a passionate, driven individual that wants to achieve success at all costs, no matter what the cost and that you do so with honor! Knowing what I know about you know, you are anything but that and I once had respect for you, but now, I can’t because Soul Shadow, you’re nothing more than a sympathy sucking vacuum that frauds everyone to believe that you’re someone that needs to be cheered, admired and respected. You’re a hypocrite! I studied everyone’s promos for High Stakes after I got signed to MPW and yours was one that stood out in particular because you were expressing your feelings at the grave of your deceased lover. I remember feeling so sorry for you, because it always hurts when someone so close to you passes on. I know, I’ve been there. Ever since then though, you’ve gotten hitched with your partner, Aeryn Ashfield. You took her in as your new love, and even slept with her. It’s almost as if, in a moment’s notice, your deceased lover was forgotten.
Valentina shakes her head in complete disgust.
Valentina Madison: How can you do that to her Soul? How can you just forget about her and move on like nothing happened? Worse yet, how can you portray yourself as some hero, when you’re anything but? I never for a second felt you respected me, because as I’ve said before, you referred to me as an “idiot” when you and I were facing off for the tag team titles back at Aftershock and not once did you apologize for it. Do you truly know how much I despised being grouped with a drunk, idiotic alcoholic like Christian Carter? Christian Carter IS an idiot because he threw away everything for the bottle, but not me. I graduated from Northwestern University, one of the most prestigious schools in the Midwestern United States, I’m far from an idiot. You though…
Valentina scoffs.
Valentina Madison: You’re not even smart enough to be accepted into the University of Illinois, let alone have a slim chance to ever have that prestigious opportunity. I know you don’t respect me because when I was fighting your gothic tramp in that dumpster a couple of weeks back, and when some idiot crashed the truck into us, knocking us both out, you only showed concern for her, and not me. Soul, if you had respect for me like you say you did, how come you showed no concern for ME at all? You never checked on me to make sure I was okay. You never had the common courtesy to do that because to you, the only thing that matters is Aeryn, the tag team titles you hold, and the cloud of lies you bestow upon those uneducated, ignoramuses known as an MPW wrestling audience! And you think I want to have any shred of respect for you? You must truly think I’m an idiot don’t you? Last week, as Roxi and I were attacked, and in my case, attacked or taken advantage of for the seventh time in the last ten weeks, you, Clash and Aeryn came out to save Roxi. But I was merely an afterthought, as always. Where is that respect for me Soul Shadow? You have done absolutely NOTHING to prove that you’re the man you say you are, because simply, you can’t prove that because you’re the OPPOSITE of what you say you are.
Valentina pauses to laugh again.
Valentina Madison: You are a terrible excuse of a person, you’re disrespectful, you’re pathetic, you’re someone who I never considered a friend, never WILL consider a friend and I will always consider people like you and your little tramp from across the pond people that are never going to be at my intellectual level, in the ring, or out of the ring. And for the record, I don’t care what anyone else thinks of what I am telling you right now, because I’m through with being a pushover and I’m through with being the resident punching bag and again Soul, it starts with you. Tonight, not only will I educate the ignoramuses that will pay to get an education for once in their lives, I will show you who the real IDIOT is, and it sure as heck won’t be me! After tonight, you’ll remember me and you’ll remember what I’m all about. I’m Valentina Madison and I’m clearly smarter than you!
