“Radicals”
Team PWU Promo 3/3
OOC: Kayley Hale and Hawk are being brought to you today with permissions from both controllers. This promo was created by all three of us, and I’m being given the love to know that I can post it. Enjoy!
Backstage: a locker room.
Three minds huddled together. They don’t share similar tights, they don’t share similar coats, and they don’t share the same brand of boots or even the same brand of hair products. They have one ideal that they all were brought in for, one ideal that Kurt Newman, that’s right, you remember him, requested of them.
Help save this company.
The camera pans around, getting a good look at the three individuals. Ring gear is on, elbow pads and knee pads are in the right spot, and they are ready to go.
“Normally at this point I’m in the gorilla, guys, c’mon, why are we here?”
“…”
“To swear an oath!”
“…”
“To swear an oath? Really? To what?”
“…”
“To… uhhh…”
“To light a fire under the talent in this company’s ass.”
“I swear, it’s almost like Kurt Newman said it!”
“It is, it is!”
“The last time I joined a company, I swore an oath to protect all that was good and pure in the company. That fell to hell, not because of who I did it with or the circumstances at the time, it fell because of the lack of dedication people had to the cause. The core units are key, don’t get me wrong, but if enough people don’t buy into it, all we are, well, are sitting ducks.”
“So, so what do we do?”
“We show the world exactly why we are World Championship Talent. No, we aren’t here to be the World Champion, they already got enough people trying to believe that of themselves already. We’re here to show the talent in this company that even if you aren’t at the top of the card, at the top of the pecking order, the top of the totem pole, you should be working your ass off to get there.”
“Never settle for mediocrity.”
“Oh, I like it!”
A pause. Each member, sequentially, cracks their neck.
“So, an oath? Really, that sounds a little cliché.”
“I still like it!”
“Maybe not an oath, per se. But we do have a mission, we do have a deadline. It’s not tonight, it’s not next week. But it is coming up. We’re here to show this company that they have something to fight for. And, if necessary, we’re here to keep the company clean of any corruption. Kurt Newman didn’t call us in as back up just because he liked watching people get destroyed in the ring.”
“He called us because he needed more people backing him up in case the management around here pushed him too much and he needed help fighting back. Though, looking at the War Games match, we will see how that goes…”
“Kurty will do just fine! He’s a survivor!”
“But people like our opponents tonight; they need to be shown the light. They need to be shown that not all of their opponents are Grade D meat from the local grocer. We’re purebred talent, through and through, and there are no mistakes that get past us. We are much more than what we seem, and we play off of our history, not just with each other, not just with our selves, but your history, too. We know that “MAN” isn’t the favorite partner on the opposing team, so we know that his partners will probably try to keep him in the match longest.”
“We know that Steele is, as he says “crazy” and “potentially dangerous”, so we can believe that he’d probably just smack us with a chair when he gets scared of losing, so he knows that he “won the war” in the match.”
“And we know they aren’t fans of us!”
“…”
“…”
“What!? We stopped them from harassing Santa! Who harasses Santa!?”
“… She’s got a point.”
“She does. Honestly, even if that is what made the higher ups put this match together, look at yourselves: who questions, who harasses, who threatens SANTA CLAUS?”
“Bad people!”
“People who don’t have anything better to do?”
“Exactly. We’re not dealing with the cream of the crop, we are not dealing with the best of the best here at MPW. These three opponents, Steele, MAN, James, they are the inciting incident. They are what, tonight, give us purpose.”
“To prove that we are everything we say we are.”
“And so much more, right?”
Stefan and Hawk nod.
“Right.”
“We might not be a Fellowship, we might not be Heroes for Hire, and we might not be here for Justice or Vigilance. But we are here to give these people an option.”
“The option to continue working on their craft, to continue being students of the game, to continue competing, to compete at a higher level.”
“If this is our first match, then let those boys bring it! I’m not afraid!”
“Former World Champions vs. Santa Harassers. Oh, I’m going to love this one. What time is it?”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“…It’s time for a right, good hanging.”
Fade out.
