I have to admit, I had been impressed with Tasha Jordan’s tenacity. As she sat opposite from me gulping down her third glass of water, I couldn’t help but shake my head at how well she had done trying to keep up with me and Lord Loco. She had attempted every exercise that Pablo asked her to, and while she couldn’t have done it at the same intense levels I worked out at, she had kept up a steady pace of her own. Even Pablo had taken his eyes off of her yoga pants long enough to be impressed. At least until about halfway through, that’s when she started tailing off. The smile she had put on for the cameras vanished, and she had to struggle to continue with each exercise. She hadn’t backed down or tried to quit though, she got her footage, and she earned it from the stingiest bastard in the United States.
After we finished up at the school, it was the least I could do to offer her an interview over dinner. She had gratefully accepted, and here we were. She had mentioned earlier it was TEW that wanted this interview, so the cameramen that had shown up earlier had headed back without Tasha, citing a need to edit their footage as a reason. So it was just me and her for the interview… assuming she planned on catching her breath within the next hour and a half.
Finally she seems to have calmed down enough to shoot me a weak smile.
Well, I think that was enough of a workout for the next month. How on Earth do you do that every day?
Well, I don’t do THAT everyday, I think Pablo was just pulling out all the stops on you. I’m impressed you did that well.
Thanks, I do yoga every week, guess it does count for something. Thanks for doing this interview by the way. It really helps me out.
Did you want to get started or…
Yeah, sure, let’s do it.
She pulled out a notepad, a pen, and a tape recorder from her large bag and tried to look professional as she began asking questions.
So, Apostle, you have a rematch with Aiden Caine for the North American Title coming up this Monday. How do you think your chances are with Bill Adams as the Guest Referee?
Well, given that for some reason, Bill Adams has decided to ‘make an example’ out of me and declare me his enemy for this match, I’d say my chances aren’t all that great now are they? Even with a fair ref I was going to be hard pressed to win, Aiden is a great wrestler, we took each other to our limits last time, and I knew we could do it again. But whether Aiden wants him or not, Bill Adams is going to be in there, with me losing as his top priority. So if you ask me what I plan on doing to win this match, there are really only two options. I either need to completely dominate Aiden Caine, which I don’t think is possible, or I need to take Bill Adams out of the picture.
That almost sounds like a threat
It almost is. I rarely do anything drastic, but let’s just say I’m keeping an open mind this Monday, and Bill should probably not get to comfortable about being in control. Because if hedoes screw me over, I can promise him that it won’t be forgotten. He can try sending me down to Step Up, but I won’t stay there forever, and when I get back, I will raise more hell for him than Beelzeboss did in The Pick of Destiny.
Sort of building off of what you said there…
What? Tenacious D? Yeah, I’m a huge fan…
No, not that. I meant Mr. Adams’ ultimatum that if you don’t win, you will be relegated to the Step Up roster. What kind of effect do you think this will have on your career, if it were to happen?
As far as immediate effects? Step-Up’s rating will triple and Main Event’s will take a dive… no seriously. I’m just one guy, trying to make a living doing what he loves. I’ve got no problem working anywhere that lets me wrestle for a career. If I end up on Step-Up, then I will wrestler for every single person that shows up for the Step-Up shows. I have no intention of quitting, or going on strike, or anything like that. I’m a wrestler, it’s my job to entertain people in a squared circle, by doing what I do best, cracking skulls.
What about lasting effects on your image as a top caliber athlete?
Well, I think people are smart enough to realize that while I might not be the best in the world right now, I do deserve to be where I am. I’m not someone who takes this job lightly. Sure I hit some rough spots along the way, but if I end up on Step-Up, I think the MPW fans will realize that it’s not because I couldn’t hold my own here, I just got on the wrong side of a watermelon in a suit and tie, who just so happens to run the place.
Do you think Bill Adams is justified in thinking you deserve some kind of punishment for your recent actions?
Honestly, I couldn’t tell you what actions for which I’m supposed to be sorry for. If he thinks I went behind his back in getting this match he’s wrong. I was all set to fight anyone he wanted me to, when Aiden Caine was the one who decided he wanted to fight me again. I wasn’t going to say no! I mean, what kind of sane person would say no to an offer for a title shot? Not to mention the last time we fought we put on one of the best matches MPW has ever seen. You would think a smart businessman would be desperate to recreate that kind of event. But apparently Bill has gotten it in his head that I somehow finagled my way behind his back to directly disobey him. And if that’s how he feels he can kiss my German ass. Because I don’t give a damn what he thinks I should or shouldn’t do anymore. I may have once, but if this is how I’m going to get treated, like a pushover who shouldn’t dare take advantage of an opportunity when it’s offered, then I’m done with following his idea of what the rules should be.
And here comes our food. So I’ll go ahead and wrap it up with this, if you could say anything to the MPW fans about your match, what would it be?
Hmm… well… I guess I would say that I hope Aiden and I can put on the kind of match you people deserve, and if Bill Adams decides to get involved, I just ask everyone certainly not to hold it against Aiden, because he really is a great guy and an even better wrester, even if we don’t always get along. No, hold it against Bill Adams, I certainly will, and when the time comes, I’ll pay him back tenfold. If there’s one thing I’ve started to hate in this industry, it’s GMs who think they can control people just because they can control a business. I’ve dealt with them before, and Bill Adams is no different… well… aside from the weighing 200 pounds more than any other GM I’ve met.
And we’ll end it there. Thanks again Apostle, and thanks for dinner.
No problem, and thanks for taking the trouble to do all this just to talk to me. Don’t worry about dinner. Mr. Hall already confirmed that I won’t take a pay cut if I end up on Step-Up…
