Hey! Guess who? That's right, it's ME! The MPW Media Insider man! Your source for what all of the guys with nothing better to do than complain about you doing a better job then they can at something they barely even care about are saying! Anyways, let's see what they have to say over at TEW.com...
MPW Monday Night Main Event 13th of August, 2012
A segment featuring: Aiden Caine
The show opened with yet another segment about Crybaby Pro Wrestling... goodie. While we enjoy a good comedy promo, and poking fun at competitors is always fun, creating carbon copies of other wrestlers works about as well as... well... do you remember fake Diesel? Yeah, we wish we could forget him too. Aiden Caine looked alright in these vignettes, but honestly he deserves way better than to be thrown is shoddy crap put together purely because the owners think it's fun to abuse a straw copy of an old enemy that most of their fans don't even remember, nor do they care about it. The other workers are clearly not high level talent. Though the still are probably better than the wrestlers they have been hired to mock. Hopefully these will end soon, as they are getting stale quickly and to this point it is probably the least fun we've had watching MPW.
Segment Rating: D+
Roxi Johnson def. Castiel vs Sonja Maria Lickinova
What could be better than starting off the matches with three of MPW's hottest new starts... hot having multiple meanings in Sonja and Roxi's case of course, but either way, when this match was announced, we all were excited to see what these three could do, and we weren't too disappointed. At least, not by Roxi and Sonja, who clearly worked hard to show they belonged in the MPW and that they were excited to be here. Castiel was less than spectacular. We all know he's talented though, so hopefully we will be able to see more improvement from him in the coming weeks. Tonight though, he only dragged behind the girls, enough to significantly hurt the match.
Match Rating: C
A segment featuring: Apostle Kried, Johnny Clash, Rage
These three have surprising chemistry, which made for a fun segment, Rage and Johnny's willingness to do comedic routines, even though they are capable of being much more serious is part of what makes them so much fun to watch. This first of a string gave viewers some great build up to what TWI would be doing to the Authority figure.
Segment Rating: B
A segment featuring: Shawn Hall, Bill Adams
Shawn Hall is a fantastic mic worker, it took him less than a minute to secure himself as the fan favorite for the upcoming Pay Per View match, as well as actually create some excitment for what would likely be the worst match on the card (excluding the pre-show of course) Then Bill Adams had to come out and spoil all the fun. The best way we have to describe Bill Adams is that he is a Fat Prick with no discernible mic skills. While Shawn Hall was crafting a fantastic promo, Bill Adams stumbled over his words and used less than perfect grammar. It was somewhat pathetic in fact. It is at the point where we feel rooting for Shawn Hall to win is not even a sign of marking out. He's just that much better at being a GM.
Segment Rating: B-
A segment featuring: Trey Baxter, Aiden Caine
A standard attack and save segment used to further the mystery of Trey Baxter. Nothing overly special, but solidly done, and with no obvious mistakes. We are looking forward to seeing what happens with Trey's storyline.
Segment Rating B-
Chris Michaels def. Drake Hunter
A solid match with a surprising finish. Chris Michaels played it well with some great moments in the ring. The two had some decent chemistry as they put together an enjoyable match. Unfortunately, we have come to expect more from a usually outstanding worker like Drake Hunter. He's a talented guy who performed average today. Hopefully whatever rut he's in will not last too long, as we really enjoy his abilities. This is a great sign for Michaels though, as it puts him in position to become a headliner for MPW.
Match Rating: B
A segment featuring: Rage, Johnny Clash
More of the same. A funny mid-way segment that left us laughing as TWI and only TWI (and Kurt Newman) can... speaking of the devil...
Segment Rating: B-
A Segment featuring: Kurt Newman, Bill Adams
Ironically, the only time we can stand Bill Adams talking is when he's pissed off. Lucky for us that Kurt Newman is always there to make sure that happens. These two segments back to back were more than we could handle, and we're still wiping up the mess here at TEW HQ, but it was all worth it. Kurt Newman is perhaps the funniest wrestler we have seen ever.
Segment Rating: A-
Taufik and Justin Fischer def. Toby Foster and Chris Cable
Solid performance by all four men, Taufik and Justin Fischer stood out for having good chemistry as a tag team. Foster and Cable added to the match, accepting their defeat and performing admirably. All around a strong match that left all the fans happy.
Match Rating: B-
Chris Michaels didn't want any feedback on his segment.
A Segment Featuring: Jason Xavier
Jason seems to fit well into his new role as a TWI member, and this was a chance for us to see his ability to cut a solo promo. Overall, he did a decent job, he built himself well and made the challenge seem exciting and cocky.
Segment Rating: B-
Kurt Newman def. Enigma and John Fisherman
A fast paced, action packed, nearly perfectly executed match that left us all wanting more. Despite being a storyline match, it was quite possibly match of the night, and all three men proved themselves to be great workers, who are hungry for a chance to prove themselves.
Match Rating: A-
Segments featuring: Try Baxter, Bill Adams, Johnny Clash, Jason Xavier, Rage, Madd Katt, Drake Hunter
A lot happened in a very short amount of time, a mix of comedy, storyline, drama, and people getting beaten up. While we never considered MPW to be a Modern Cutting Edge Style promotion, they definitely borrowed the rapid action for this little bit. Just about everything went off perfectly too. If any of the fans were starting to get burned out by the show, this was exactly what was needed to wake them up. All the segments were completely unrelated, yet they somehow fit together perfectly.
Segment Rating: A-
Aiden Caine def. Apostle Kried
Yet again these two pulled out all the stops to put on a great match, and even with the ending, it is also a contender for match of the night, both men showed how good they really can be, and Apostle Kried shows just how little ego he must have if he is willing to be taken off the Main Show for the companies sake. We can't wait to see what happens next.
Match Rating: B+
A segment featuring: Jackson Blaze, Trey Baxter, Justin Fischer
What better way to close off the show than our favorite heel and our favorite face squaring off in a stare down to build their match? Not much. Throwing Fischer in the ring with these two means that MPW must have big plans for Fischer. We will be watching.
